I totally agree, Allen Crabbe, Gerald Henderson are two players needing our attention. Both could give us significant shooting and defensive help.

They will try to move Bogut first. There are reported to be three teams that have inquired about Bogut.
If they would take Payne for Bogut, I'd have to at least consider it. That would cost us 9M and we'd still have two open roster spots which we could focus on shooters. Bogut comes off books next year so he wouldn't hamstring us.

And I think $28.2 (.3 X 94) goes to KD as his max. Can they sign another 6 players without exceeding the cap?

Maybe they can do it like this. They could offer a minimum contract to some meaningless player, and then still have just barely enough room to sign KD, I think they can then go over the cap by signing the 5 players whose rights they own (Ezeli, Barbosa, Clark, McAdoo and Rush). But depending how much those 5 cost them, they may find themselves paying lux tax.

Maybe they keep Iggy, but the numbers work a lot easier if they don't. I hope Leydon has already offered Payne for Iggy.

Unfortunately, it looks like Golden State can keep Iggy and it looks like Dallas will take Bogut along with Barnes. Now Dallas has shot their wad and we actually have the most cap space of playoff contending teams (only Philly and Brooklyn have more space). We can aim high on the remaining shooter list.

This is what is so aggravating. Why is it always the other Western Conference teams that benefit? Dallas once again will be able to patch together a solid squad it looks like. And I'm sure Gasol will go to the Spurs instead of Toronto.

And before we go writing off OKC, they still have Westbrook, a one-man wrecking crew. Oladipo isn't bad and then you have some solid role players. While they may not be a contender, they are still very much in the playoff mix and a team we need to be able to beat.

Meanwhile, some of the large-market teams in the East flail away....Frustrating!

I think Thibs and Layden have ended up in a good place so far with Dunn and Aldrich. Now they'll likely add another 2nd or 3rd tier free agent. We'll see who that is soon.

Based on reports, they pursued Deng and Gasol. Not sure whether we were unwilling to meet their price or whether those 2 players had other reasons for not signing with the Wolves. I hope it was the money in which case I'd respect Thibs and Scott for setting their parameters and sticking to them. However, if it wasn't the money then I'm a bit concerned.

Regarding Luol Deng, it would mean that Deng chose a less talented team and first time head coach he's never played for over a better, more talented team with a head coach he played for and had success with for years. It would rekindle my initial fear that players don't like playing for Thibs.

Regarding Gasol, I would understand if the Spurs and even the Raptors were the only 2 remaining teams he was considering. But apparently he's still considering the Blazers. They surprised everyone last season, but they don't have the talent the Wolves have. Again, if it wasn't the money, I'm concerned about another former Thibs player rejecting another chance to play for him on what Thibs and most respected analysts consider the most talented young tesm in the League. And the Wolves also have Gasol's friend and fellow-Spaniard on he roster.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions. Just wondering.

Yesterday ESPN reported that the Wolves made a big money offer to Gasol. Wolfson also referenced that offer today. I think it comes down to whether he thinks him being in San Antonio or Toronto gives him a legit shot at a title or him going to a very promising young team in Minnesota with a friend of his who probably doesn't contend the next 2 years.

Good point. You are right that 26.5 is less than 30%, but I don't think Woj would link to those numbers if they weren't credible. By the way, http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/6/28/12050498/kevin-durant-contract-salary-money-nba-free-agent-rumorsthis article refers to the max as 26.6. Its possible there are some adjustment factors that I'm not aware of, or KD is allowed to take less than the max in year 1 and take more in later years. If you look at the spread sheet the numbers shoot up in year 3.
