I am certain that philly will prefer waiters over bennet if they were to get involved as the 3rd team. The question now is whether flip prefers waiters or he prefers to keep the wings we have and get young to fill the pf spot in exchange for waiters.
Some will prefer the one over the other, i have a feeling flip will prefer to get young and roll with martin, bud, bazz and lavine as his wings other than wiggins.

So the latest news on Love is on his participation in team USA. Yesterday Colangelo said Love sounded so disappointed on the phone when he called to say he wouldn't be able to play Colangelo thought Love was going to cry. One reason I've liked Love is he has always seemed really commited to Team USA when other guys seem to not care that much. It helps Love is a great fit for the Euro game and yeah I'm sure Blatt would Love to have Love with the Cavs for that reason. Anyway today Colangelo said its possible they could still add Love to the team before the first game. I found that interesting. Does Colangelo know something or he is he just reading into the Wiggins 30 day deadline like everyone else?

I found the Colangelo comment that Love may still play intriguing too, monster...I don't know how to interpret it. Maybe it's good.

So Kevin was almost crying on the phone? Please. I'm sure nobody will be surprised that I find this to be another negative Love story...I'm so weary of this guy and his narcissism. It's typical of Kevin that he would say he wouldn't be able to play, as if outside forces are preventing him from playing, rather than saying that he chooses not to play. Spin it in a way that makes him sound like he's not responsible, just like he has the Love apologists believing that he doesn't bear any responsibility for the team he leads missing the playoffs every year of his career. Kevin has free will here. He can play if he wants. I'm sure there is nothing in his Wolves' contract that prohibits him from playing for the US team. He's not playing because he doesn't believe it's good for Kevin to play. Perhaps his agent has told him that it's risky for him to play because of the danger of getting hurt, but that's BS. We all know Kevin is a hard worker in the offseason, and he could just as easily injure himself playing pickup basketball...or doing knuckle pushups.

This is another case of Kevin not stepping up and honoring a commitment. I am not a player hater...I tend to like 98% of the athletes I watch. I knew too much about Garnett personally to like him after about his 5th year, but other than KG and Love (okay, maybe JJ a little too), I feel quite positive about the guys on my teams. But everything Love does rubs me the wrong way. I have known people like him, and I don't like them. I have my victory celebration cigar ready to light up the moment it's confirmed that his ass is out the door.

Now, it's time for a word from some of Kevin's supporters...

I agree with you lst on love. While there is no doubt he is a great player he definitely thinks too highly of himself. Throwing his team under the bus the way he did. Shouldering no responsibility for anything that went wrong. Hes a hell of a player but also one hell of an a**hole. I also wont miss him. That being said, looking at some writers they still claim we may not get wiggins. If we dont get him i would be sick. What chance do u guys think a trade happens without wiggins?

It's a good, but scary question, crazy. But I put the chance of Flip dealing Love to the Cavs without Wiggins at less than 5 %. I believe Lebron has told management he expects a deal to get done, and that gives Flip substantial leverage. I also think he has played it well by stating that he is more than willing to start the season with Love (even though I strongly suspect he doesn't want that at all), which gives him more bargaining power because it sends a strong message that he won't give in. I also think there is a lot of ego involved in this for Flip. He has made it clear that he won't give the Cavs Love without Wiggins, and it will reflect poorly on him as a PBO if he loses this one.

You put those factors together, and it makes me feel quite confident. This 30-day crap is getting to me though. I want this deal done!

Anybody think there is substantial risk of Flip doing a deal without Wiggins?

100% he's traded to Cleveland for Wiggins and pieces. Lebron wants Love and Lebron pretty much runs the Cavs at this point. Also, where are the criticisms for the other stars not playing for team USA? Love was better than a large chunk of the real team USA and yet he's the main one getting trampled for not playing for this version. Love is a whimp for dodging the media which is the main reason he's not playing whether he wants to admit it or not, but where's your hate for Aldridge? Melo didn't have any playoff miles coming into this off-season and his new deal is done. What's his excuse? Love has been one of the few guys consistently on board with team USA for both the Olympics and the off-year teams. Dwight missed the last Olympics because of an injury so why aren't you ripping him for not making up for it by playing now? Love is a top 10 player and nobody else in the top 10 is getting criticized for skipping out but him. Love being there would have been a media circus for the wrong reasons and just made the whole ordeal even more annoying for us Wolves fans because its not like he was gonna get any better with the way he was referring to our team. It would have been days of Love quotes pissing us all off because he can't get traded fast enough.

Khans, I have the same negative opinion of everyone that has elected not to play for the US team, unless they're injured. I also give Leonard a pass because his season lasted a lot longer than Kevin's, and he probably just needs a break. But it's a prick move for anyone else that committed to play for the team, and then decided to back out. I'm just not as emotionally invested in the others because they don't play for my team.

It almost seems like you're saying Love is doing the fans a favor by not playing, so we don't have to get more pissed off at listening to his interviews. Like this is something he is doing altruistically rather than just because it's good for him. If you think that, we have a significantly different opinion of his character. Here's how a man would handle this: Show up and honor the commitment he made, and be honest and authentic in his interviews, rather than using slippery passive-aggressive language like referring to the team that owns his contract and his teammates as "they". But Love doesn't know how to do that. So instead he takes the coward's way out by just backing out of his commitment and hiding.

You also point out that Love is getting ripped more than other Top Ten players for backing out. I don't know if that's true (you can find some pretty harsh LMA articles out there), but I also sense that Kevin just isn't as popular around the league as other players. If you have the reputation of consistently being a good guy, the media is more likely to give you a pass on something like this. But Kevin doesn't have that reputation, so the media is happy to jump on him.

Kevin needs to learn that if you make a commitment, you honor it, whether it's a celebrity softball game, playing for your country, or whatever. This isn't going to help his reputation.

LST - I'm guessing this means we will trade Love, and then trade for KG for one last season. Just for you! :)

Josh Smith, then?!?

This topic deserves a whole new thread. Even if Rubio gets 15 mil in his extension, the Wolves can afford afford a 10+ mil starting PF for a couple years.
