Cole started 14 games last season at center. He was given a Pro Football Focus grade of 54.4.
I think he is insurance if Bradbury doesn't improve. The interesting thing is even though he has been in the league a year longer he is a year younger than Bradbury.

He seems like a decent player that has some potential to improve and become a solid starter along the interior. His draft profile fits the zone blocking scheme and it's always good to have a guy that has legit experience playing center in case Bradbury gets hurt. If he didn't have short arms he would probably still be a tackle. For just the 6th round comp pick it seems like a solid move.

Supposedly they made an offer to Nick Easton but he is still looking. If I was him I would be hoping for at least Elfien money. =)

I still don't get the Elfien contract. Easton interests me, but this is the year we need to address this early in the draft as this is supposed to be a strong OL draft. How would you feel about trading our first for Orlando Brown of Ravens?

So in 2020 as a FA what is going to cost like 20 million a year? Im not saying he won't be worth that but it's something that I have to calculate.

Easton would be fine if he was cheap which I bet (speculating) was what the Vikings offered him and so he is looking for a bette toffee which I don't blame him. I agree the Vikings need to address the oline in this draft. I also think at some point there will be some decent guard options available in FA that won't exactly break the bank so I won't panic if they address another spot in the first round if a player they believe is super talented (compared to the player available that's an Olineman). Of course the magical trade down is an option which could help address oline and another spot too. It's not exactly a great spot to be in but the Vikings currently have an open spot at 2 guard positions so opportunity is there which can be a positive for guys willing to do a 1 year prove it type deal.

I wouldn't overpay for guards that are left.

I would love to see us sign Everson Griffin and Geno Atkins, It would give us a good rotation of players at DE/DT.

Can Atkins play guard?

Mac Alexander back for the vet min. I'm not shocked at this point that's all it took to bring him back but earlier in FA I thought he would get some moderately decent offers. He isn't amazing but maybe he rebounds a bit back in Zimmer's D even if it's just as a really solid guy in the slot again. I wonder if Hughes will even be healthy. Now if we can just get a safety. I think with what they have done in the offseason it's pretty safe to assume Spielman isn't going to be kicked out of the house for drafting another CB in the 1st round. Lol

He might be an upgrade here.

We signed our safety in Xavier Woods. I see him as an upgrade.

Early last week I had read about some of the remaining safeties and he was a guy a couple articles (nationally) that said he was a good fit for the Vikings. It sounds like he is a solid player that fits the system. He turns 26 this summer and he signed for less than half of what Harris signed for. I'm not sure I would go so far as to say he is an upgrade but even if he was a slight downgrade from Harris this coming season getting him for that price to stabilize the position would be pretty good value. It's also possible they have found the solution at that spot for the next few years which would be fantastic.

So for this season the defense is in pretty good shape. They have some guys playing on 1 year deals so they could still draft a player for the future. Still it feels like they are set up to draft an Olineman with their top pick or trade down. Drafting a LB seems like a priority. I'm sure they will take another swing at a DE in the mid rounds.

I also forgot that this year was when the 17 game schedule was going to start. I think the cap for next year is going to jump significantly even with them borrowing against it this year.

You are correct on the whole teams are looking forward to a jump in the cap in the future.

This draft is pretty fine at DE and LB from what I remember. I would look that way on day 3 in this draft.
I would target OL,S, WR& DT in the first 2 days.

Why are people so obsessed with drafting another WR?
