The run the bench made to start the 4th was critical.

Also, I'm 33% on prognostication based on the initial post here. Hoping Jester is 100% on his!

Edwards was tremendous tonight as he has been in the vast majority of Wolves games. Once again, he was the team's leading scorer. He was also our leading rebounder. Jamal Murray's drive and turnover was far more of a low IQ play than Ant's attempted steal. Ant is scoring, rebounding and getting assists. He's playing tough defense as well. He's played in every single game this season and he's the only player on this team you can count on to perform every single game. He makes mistakes, but he's barely 21 years old. Murray and even Jokic make mistakes. I'm so thankful Rosas ignored my advice and drafted Edwards. He's the one big bright spot right now for this organization.

My point Lip was if he unlocks and becomes a student of the game he's going to be special. Say what you want that was a dumbass foul in the the gran scheme didn't matter. He was very special tonight and they don't win without him.

If there's one Wolves player who deserves criticism it's Rudy Gobert. 8 points, 4 rebounds and a -4 in 27 minutes would be OK for a role player signed as a free agent for the MLE. But it's unacceptable for a max player acquired in a trade for a boat load of valuable assets. Of course, that's on TC, not really on Rudy.

This team won the game when Garza and Knight were on the floor. They won because of Ant, McDaniels. Nowell was good too. They won because they played hard and played as a team

Yes I was at wine and cheese party watching the game with friends and my wife. I didn't check the board but loved the shabazz comments.

I think he's already a student of the game. But he's even an upperclassman yet, much less a graduate. By all accounts he has a high basketball IQ. And you can see him improving through learning. Tonight he looked as studious as Jamal Murray and other talented vets on the floor.

I'm not saying he was amazing but his primary matchup shot 4-18 tonight

Yeah we absolutely needed Gobert when Jokic was out there. It would have been a lot worse without his resistance on him.

Abe's Late Night DVR Review:

- Amazing how better effort gets rewarded with cheers... and a win.

- Edwards started off deferring... and then got a bit sticky late. I'm ok with it. It's ok to have your most talented player (and bucket getter) try to take over games. It's not ok to have three or four guys playing that way. In a game where the Wolves were decimated by injuries and illness, they needed to have moments where they just give the ball to their best player on the floor.

The guy still makes mistakes. Finch screamed at him (and Jim Peterson called him out for it, too) for whining about a call and not getting back on defense. But like the iso ball... you can take some of the bad because of the other tantalizing things he does.

- I laughed for the first time all season watching a game. Granted... it was chuckling at Luka Garza feeling it. He took a quick three pointer from the corner that missed everything. I stopped laughing when he was beaten down court for a Jokic dunk. But overall, he provided energy. So did Nathan Knight.

- Kyle Anderson is a pro. Sometimes, he seems like he could be an annoying teammate. And his moves keep making me think that my tv/cable is glitching. But he deserves a lot of credit for this one.

- Aaron Gordon came into the game shooting 60%. He shot 4 - 18 fg (22%) tonight. Yikes.

- The last two three pointers were fun. Edwards passed out of the double team and Rivers made the extra pass to Anderson for the open three. Then, Anderson wasted clock, drove and hit a wide open McDaniels in rhythm for a three from the other corner. Ballgame.

- Interestingly, Bryn Forbes didn't see the court tonight despite the depleted bench. This is a guy who has played in big playoff games. He won a championship! He's never shot below 39% on three since his rookie season. He made 41% last season. 45% the previous season. He's made 9 - 36 3fg this season.

- Still don't think Matt Ryan is an NBA player. But he was out there for 21 minutes in the win of the season. Just shows how depleted this roster is.

- Maybe relevant, maybe not... but while Rudy Gobert had 8 points and 4 rebounds to help his new team win... his former teammate, D. Mitchell, had 71 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists to help his new team win.

- Earlier in this thread, I noted how Jokic has only shot below 50% once all season. He was right at 50% tonight. And overall, he was good or even great, but not even close to transcendent.

- Denver played... well... poorly. It's kind of like they overlooked this game considering it was the team's only road game for two weeks, on the back end of a back-to-back, against a struggling team without a bunch of key guys. Scheduled loss or not, great win for the Timberwolves.
