I'd definitely like mcglaughlin back (at the minimum), but not at the expense of losing nowell. We finally saw what he's capable of tonight and I need guys like him on this team to keep me remotely interested

We already knew he could light up G-League caliber player. Have yet to see him do it against legit NBA talent

Actually at least one of his finishes at the rim was against Jonas.

Fair. I actually like Nowell. Just saying he is going to have to shoot better the 15% from 3 against legit NBA talent to keep his job. I'm not going to overreact to one good game against gourgis of the world. I am happy he played well tonight.

*I'm not saying you are overreacting

Yeah, good point. Still nice to see him look good. I was on board with cutting him if mcglaughlin signed, but now I'd have to lean Vanderbilt I think. I guess we'll see if mcglaughlin even signs. Nowell definitely helped the wolves bargaining position tonight.

Vanderbilt will be a RFA after this season assuming the Wolves give him a qualifying offer of just over 2 million. Unless he does something this season I would imagine it won't take much to resign him but also will he be worth resigning? He turns 22 in April so l he is still pretty young. I like the idea of him as a worthwhile player but I've stayed a bit skeptical about him being able to show it For meaningful minutes this year at the NBA level.

While we can't take too much away from one game, the good thing with Nowell is that he has a pretty impressive body of work. He showed in college and the G-League that once he gets regular reps and playing time, he can be a knockdown shooter, good scorer, and decent defender. That doesn't guarantee anything, but it's not like this is coming completely out of left field.

The thing I liked most about him last night was his whole demeanor and poise. He looked like an NBA player even when he wasn't shooting.
