Collison has retired.
darren collison? is it injury related?
Spiritual, jehovah's witness work.
Wow. He is walking away from millions to do charity work. Admirable and honorable guy. Wish the best for him. Earn my respect for sure.
Collison is the guy I wanted to sign after the Rubio deal. Better three-point shooter than Teague and would have cost less. I'm too really admire him for what he's doing.
It's quite a surprise. You have to have respect for someone walking away from anything involving that much money. Best wishes to him and he had a pretty nice career. Sporttrac has him down for making $43 million that's not a bad run.
Collison walking away does take one starting level PG off the market. I'd guess he was considered a better starting option than some other guys. That will be good for other PGs and could be good for the market for moving Teague.

I got some amusement out of this video with Katie Nolan trying to help Woj.

I think we're should stay pat take our losses and wait for the bargain guys at the end of free agency.
Let teague expire knock a year off diengs deal, try to develop wiggs then sell cap space for picks in 2020 when high school kids are eligible to get drafted.
Then trade Towns after the 2021 season and restart the cycle. Maybe Culver is the next guy Minnesota can't, or won't, build around. Rinse. Repeat.
Amen.
How many picks do we want to fail to develop, or even try to develop? We have way too many as is. We hit on a surefire one, push some damn chips in for another proven running mate.
What chips though? DLO seems like a stretch for us mostly because we just don't have a lot to offer.
Use 1sts to dump teague and/or dieng. We can afford to lose some. First call i make is to David Griffin dieng and a 1st 10 protected.
Become a player in this heavy FA class.
If the rumor is true that Wiggins has even neutral value, even better. Here I call Memphis and NY.
How can we afford to lose "some" 1st rounders? I wouldn't want to completely empty the pipeline. I'm also very skeptical about Wiggins being neutral value.
I just think other teams have more to offer/more flexibility to be players with the bigger name free agents than we do. That doesn't mean Rosas shouldn't try, but I'm skeptical anything real awe-inspiring happens.
I also think the best GMs are ones that identify under-valued assets that can have a positive impact on results. I see a potential market inefficiency with bigs right now that could potentially help us a lot without breaking the bank.
Good points, Q. I agree that the better GMs are good at identifying under-valued assets that can positively impact the team. You point about a current market inefficiency with his is an interesting one. Could you elaborate on that? Thanks.
I just think there are a lot of really sound defensive 4s and 5s that will be available on the market and can give us 15-20 minutes of strong play every night at a minimal price. Look at how Luol Deng performed in his time with us. Or Ed Davis over his past couple of years, Baynes is another one. These guys don't fit the fashionable trend of the day which is why they are undervalued by the market. Thus a market inefficiency that we can take advantage of.

Outside of dlo who else do we prioritize.
With cam waived, if we trade teague for cap, we are close to being able to offer a 4/80 type deal or close to it.
Harris to be our starting pf?
Maybe jordan to anchor our defense?
Beverley a bulldog and would give the team some fire.
Mirotic, stretch 4
Randle, young guy with upside

I'm not sure I'd trade Teague unless I knew I was able to upgrade the position.

With Collision now gone, Teague's value goes up. Assume that Kyrie signs with the Nets as expected and Kemba signs with Boston as recently reported. What teams with at least $19 million in practical cap space would want or benefit from a good veteran starting PG for next season? Those are the teams that might be interested in a cap-clearing trade for Teague. Here's my list:
1. Lakers -- They have the space, but they won't if they get their way and sign Kawhi, Butler, Kemba or one of the other elite free agents they covet. And if they don't get one of those, they will try hard to sign Russell. But if they strike out on all those players, they will need a veteran PG to spare LeBron all the ballhandling duties. There are other free agent PGs like Rubio. But Teague seems to be a particularly good fit for the Lakers. He's a solid, reliable PG with playoff experience who is still near the top of his game. In addition, he's a pretty good 3-point shooter, which fits well with LeBron. The Lakers could absorb the salary and provide us with cap relief this summer, throwing in a future 2nd round pick.
2. Pacers -- The Pacers need a PG, but they appear to be zeroing in on Rubio to replace Collison. But Teague is more similar to Collison. And with Oladipo out for a significant portion of the season, I would think the Pacers will need more shooting/scoring from their PG, which would make Collison a better fit for them than Ricky. Would the Pacers be interested in using their cap space to absorb Teague's salary? Would the be willing to provide a future draft pick in return?
3. Knicks --- The Knicks have nearly $60 million in cap space if they renounce rights to all their free agents. They are obviously trying to land two elite max free agents, but they're not the favorites to get any of those free agents. So they could easily end up stuck with nearly $60 million in unused cap space and no elite players to spend it on. Of they might just land one and have around $25 million left to spend. They have Dennis Smith Jr. as their young potential all-star PG. Perhaps the Knicks would like a veteran PG on an expiring deal like Teague to provide depth and mentorship for one season.

According to Keith smith:
"Multiple teams have heard that Minnesota is confident that they can trade Andrew Wiggins this summer. Doing so could open up the cap space necessary to sign D'Angelo Russell, who is tight with Karl-Anthony Towns"
Theres just too much smoke for wiggs to not get traded.
Releasing cam has to play a part.
