2 pg line ups are fine if tyus is one of the pgs. Teague and rose just dont work. They overlap each other.
They take turns dominating the ball and killing ball movement. When the other doesnt have the ball, he isnt a shooter that will spot up and shoot(especially teague) or do anything. Defense and rebounding, we are just asking for trouble.
Tyus will at least provide defense abd will move the ball.

In all fairness though we need to acknowledge his 9 assists against only 2 TOs. But when you need 25 shots to get only 18 points, it's easy to see why he was a -12 on the night despite his 9 dimes.
A winning coach has the ability to recognize the guys who are playing best on that particular night and ride them at the end. But Thibs decides to play Rose (-12) over Okogie (+7), Gibson (-14) over Saric (+6) and Teague (-19) over Jones (+11)...in all three cases our bonehead coach made the wrong choice. It's interesting that all three guys who he left on the bench are known for moving the ball, while the three he left on the court are generally ball-stoppers. If that doesn't tell you why Wig didn't touch the ball in the 4th quarter, and why Thibs is holding this team back, I don't think anything will.
I guess we should take some solace that we hung with a good team on their court with our best player out, but this game was ours for the taking. Geez, up 6 with not much time on the clock...you gotta win that game. Yep, this one hurts a little.
Absolutely right, LST. Blaming Rose misses the point. Rose did last night was Rose does. Thibodeau made the decision to play Rose 37 minutes as he watched Rose take 25 shots, make only 9 of them and take only 3-pointer. It's up to the head coach to have the right people on the floor at the right time. Thibodeau is also responsible for the Wolves antiquated offensive system with poor spacing and inadequate ball movement. That's bad enough. But his decisions on who to play and when often make things worse as they did last night. Having Rose and Teague together down the stretch last night hurt the Wolves on both ends of the court. Note also that Wolves took only 16 three-pointers compared to the Blazers' 33.
I still enjoy watching this team in the post-Butler era with guys like Covington, Saric and Okogie. I'm enjoying what could be Wiggins breaking through and KAT starting to dominate, although he didn't play well last night. But the Wolves won't make the playoffs this season. Of that I'm certain. That should trigger a coaching change next summer. That should be a good thing, but unfortunately Glen Taylor will be hiring Thibodeau's replacement.

Yep, I'm certain. Take it to the bank. :)
I just think there is too much quality and depth on our team, plus the renewed chemistry that has blossomed, for this team to miss the playoffs. Even Thibs cannot stop it (although I suppose he could hinder it!)...

There is a ton of quality and depth in the Western Conference though, so a lot of this is simply going to come down to injury luck, a favorable call here and there, and getting some good luck along the way. While I'm not as down on this team as I was, it's still going to be an uphill climb.

And Rose gets the start. I would have gone with Okogie. But Okogie ought to get minutes somewhere along the way...
Rose marching up with C.J. makes a lot of sense. One of the things Okogie has problems with is a defender is playing too hard. C.J. gets his looks by shifty ball handling. Rose made a lot of sense matched up there.
Make or miss league we missed some shots down the stretch the blazers missed them. Good game by the Wolves missing a very important player.
Personally I thought Teague actually played a good game. Rose didn't adjust at times when he was attacking but some of that should be credit to the Blazers defenders. One play he should have made was taking that 3 in the corner instead of attacking. I wonder if he flat out forgot he was 2018 Rose and went to Rose from a few years ago when he would have dunked on someone.
Okogie does lots of good stuff but he also takes himself out of plays and fouls sending guys to the line at times when solid D would have been better. That shot fake at the 3 point line is pretty convincing and he can get going quickly. He needs to slow down a bit at times even though that's why he gets into plays to begin with.
Speaking of slowing down...Wiggins has gotten smoother I think taking a bit more time when he attacks and it's been pretty profitable. He still has flaws but good game from him.
Tough calls on Towns early and yet Dieng came in and did some good things. I think Towns ended up bette than his box score. Nurkic was very good in this game for the most part.
Overall it was an entertaining game with some calls that went the wrong way for both teams and mostly evened out. If the Wolves continue to play at least this well (especially with Covington back in the lineup) they are gonna do just fine. This is a fun team that I continue to have more and more faith in.

You replace a top 5 drpm guy and replace him with a bottom 5 drpm guy against one if the most dynamic backcourts in the league, thibs was asking for trouble.
Okogie for all his faults should have started ahead of rose. With rose starting, we went away from what weve been doing the past few games. Defend, look for the 3 ball, and establish kat/wiggs early.

Thibs doesn't agree with you, c-c...he made it clear post-game that there was nothing wrong with the coaching decisions in this game, only the execution. "We didn't do what we were supposed to do. I'll leave it at that". Learn the game, c-c ;)
