KBD showing a lot more in this game. He doesn't always use it but he has a lot of length. He had those 2 blocks earlier and then basically swallowed up a few guys contesting in the paint.

Jon Stark looks like a solid player. I'm gonna have to do some more research on him.

Corey Brewer is my all-time favorite player in a Wolves uniform because of the all-out effort at all times. Okogie has a similar motor on the defensive end. I love it.

KBD looks solid. Smart player. Doesn't overwhelm with any kind of athleticism, but just long and makes the right plays. Kind of Kyle Anderson-like?

I watched the 2nd half and a half of the 2nd quarter. Here are my quick thoughts.

Okoogie- Like him a lot, his defense is fantastic. He fights and scraps and mixes it up for rebounds, fights over screens. Im super impressed. Offensively it is a work in progress but he gets to the line what is huge. He is also shooting good shots for the most part they are just not falling. Feel like his handles are weak, he is fine on straight line drives but he doesn't have separation on secondary moves at this time

KBD- Loved what he brought today. Hit threes, attacked the rim and finished, hit mid range jumpers. Played very good defense. Curious how he will do against 3s, he is mostly guarding 4s in these games.

Jefferson- I think he deserves a contract. I agree with what people said yesterday, he is not a athletic dude, but like his Duke teammate Tyus he just get shit done. At some point production no matter how it is obtained deserves a contract. He does not have big upside at all, he was an old rookie in the first place but I feel like he could fill in for minutes if needed.

Tyrell- He hit shots when I watched. We'll see what he can do with his 2 way contract.

Starks- Played really good, won't make the roster and shouldn't but good for him he is making the most of his chance. Our other PG suck so much. Good for him, it is huge for these non-nba players to keep in the minds of coaches and I feel like he is doing that.

Good stuff here I agree with all of it.

Okogie-I've been impressed with his passing. Is he a shot creator? No but he is aware enough to be looking and deceived when it's there.

KDB was matches up a lot with OG and did a pretty good job. That's at least a legit NBA player even if OG was a complimentary guy. OG beat him a couple times but also blocked his shot on solid D and then OG went for a 3 and KBD blocked it. The height and length of KBD combined with his skill level is pretty nice. It's a different skill set but it's why Belly was so intruiging. His shot looks pretty smooth.

Jefferson made me eat my words from the last few games I had seen him play. Dude was terrific defensively and just knows how to play. I saw a few weeks ago Grayson Allen said Tatum never beat Amile in their 1 on 1 matchups. I think against bigger players Amile may have problems at times but as a deep bench guy he won't face those guys as much. With a league going small he fits. I'm still not sure what priority I would put on him though but it's fun to watch the guy play.

Tyrell has a pretty effortless stroke and he got some deflections etc. he does ok at a PG but doesn't really make plays. He looked better off the ball.

Apparently Starks is a scoring guard. He looks really comfortable running the teams sn handling the ball. The negatives are his size at just 6' and whether he can be a guy that can just come in and do his job after being a high usage guy in college. His defensive persuader looked pretty good. If he keeps his up I'd be interested in him as a 2-way guy.

Fun game to watch and see our rookies play well. I didn't think Tyrell was bad last game, and he did some good stuff this game. I wonder if having him on a two-way contract along with Rose on the regular roster results in Thibs not adding a 3rd PG to the roster? I also wonder if we don't add a traditional C to replace Aldrich? If that is the case, it means we will be adding a couple more guys that are wings/forwards, which might be how Jefferson earns a contract...

I suspect we, along with so many other NBA teams, will be playing a long waiting game to convince FAs to sign for vet minimum contracts.

Again today I was impressed with Okogie's footwork and toughness on defense. I floated the idea in another thread of starting him with Butler and having Wig provide much needed scoring off the bench, but there wasn't much support. After today's game, I feel even stronger about this. Josh is going to struggle offensively on the second team, but won't have to provide much scoring if he was playing with the starters. Not likely to happen, but I'd still like it.

Based on Thibs interview during the game, it sounds like everyone is mispronouncing KBD's name. Announcers have been saying Bates-Dee-op, but Thibs says Bates-Jop...kind of like Dieng is pronounced Jeng. Makes sense, I guess. I'm going to assume Thibs is right, and go with "Jop".

Yep Jon K confirmed this with Keita but he also said he doesn't really care much either way. He might be happy if people just pronounce his first name right.

As for Okogie starting you are getting a little greedy there which i like. :) let's be honest let's hope this guy is good enough to play 20or so minutes a game. He is showing enough I think he is gonna play. I get your thinking but I think one of the good things about Okogie is he is gonna be going at Wiggins in practices etc. if Okogie going at Wiggins and maybe even try to take his job (not really) gets Wiggins going idk what else will. Okogie seems like a Kris Dunn type which I think a lot of us would like to see on this team. It looks like we got one and Okogie looks more "built to last" than Dunn.

One other point I'll make is Amile did not look good at all a year ago in SL. A few months later he basically instantly was one of the best bigs in the entire G-league.

I think Okogie is a perfect match for Rose and Tyus on the 2nd unit. He's 3rd or 4th option there anyway. His job will be to set screens, rebound, play d and create chaos. If Tyus and Rose run a similar pace that they did last year Okogie will get some easy buckets.

May be on defense, but no on offense. You'd ideally want at least a couple of those guys to be able to be a legit deep threat. None of them are dangerous from 3, so the spacing will suck. Anthony Tolliver helps, but these days you need a lot more than one guy that can shoot the 3. The fact is absolutely no one in our 6-man perimeter rotation (Teague, Jones, Rose, Wiggins, Butler, Okogie) is considered a volume 3 threat. I honestly don't know of another team that exists with such little 3-point shooting up and down the PG-SG-SF depth chart.
