Ugh. Well... I hate to pile on, but here we go... hopefully adding a different spin on the frustration:
- KAT shot 8 times. That's at least 4 fewer than every other Wolves starter. By the way, KAT was guarded by Ersan Ilyasova for vast stretches of this game. ILYASOVA!!!!
I'm anything but a knee-jerk alarmist... but if the Wolves can't figure out a way to get its "superstar" center more than 8 shots vs. ERSAN ILYASOVA... everybody has to go. EVERYBODY. That's fucking ridiculous.
[breathe... breathe... breathe...]
Or, is it telling about how hard it is to win big with an offense/team centered around a Big Man in today's NBA. It takes at least two people to get them into the action, whereas a guy like James or Harden or Leonard or Giannis can start with the ball in their hands. Who are the best bigs in the game today?
- Anthony Davis
- Demarcus Cousins
- KAT
- Porzingis
What have they won? One playoff berth combined?
- Yes. Teague was bad. He was terrible. My thoughts on him are already known. Everybody is in the same boat at this point.
- This was one of those games that "felt bad"... and Jim Peterson hinted at it repeatedly. It shows up in the rebounding and the missed opportunities.
- This is not the first game... or 2nd... and maybe not even 3rd... when the Wolves get 20+ TOs against a crappy inferior team and they STILL lose.
- I wish Thibs stole plays... or spent as much time... on inbounds plays as some other coaches... namely Brad Stevens. That last play had ONE option and it wasn't a good one and left one second for an alternative. It was, for lack of a better description, bad high school level strategy. It was embarrassing.
- One bad loss is fine. Two is meh. Three... Four... with all but 8 West teams all but conceding a playoff berth... the Wolves are poised to finally break the streak. But how confident are people in any playoff series?

One more nitpick...
Why is Jeff Teague shooting free throws when Jamal Crawford is on the court? Crawford is a 90% free throw shooter. Between Teague's missed free throw and his silly technical on a clear charge... that's your ball game folks.

Re: Wolves at Hawks GDT
The Timberwolves deserved to lose the game. This isn't the first time we've lost this year when they go to Butler exclusively down the stretch. Wig was completely ignored in the 4th quarter and Towns was hardly involved either. Couple that with the fact we get nothing in transition - again - and they got what they deserved.
Keep pounding the ball in the half court and let teams hang with you until they out execute you at the end. Again, we got exactly what we deserved. Embarrassing.

Butler is great no doubt, but I want to see more Towns down low. He's the most efficient scorer.

Certainly could be one of those coaching moves where they give the struggling player a chance to see the ball go through the hoop and get him an ounce of confidence. I'm spectating, of course, but we also did that with Wiggins [at least] one time during his really long shooting slump. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's worth a try, I suppose.

2 things about this game.
1. There were stretches of this game especially a significant portion of the first half where this team played like they were that front runner team that you play pickup ball with that thinks/knows they are bette than the other team and they don't play good basketball. They make passes they shouldnt make drive the ball when they should and do play defense.
2. When the Wolves were playing well there were shots that just didn't drop. Teague had some brain farts at the end of the game but neither he or Tyus could buy a shot. Teague in the first half compensated by setting some guys up really well and I actually disagreed with Jim Peterson I thought he did a pretty solid job on Schroder and that's probably why I would have kept him in there despite him basically being the offensive version of bad Rubio as a scoring threat. Yikes
Frustrating loss (especially at the end) but I'm gonna move on.
