Fortunately a slow pre-game dinner got me to my seats just as a 40-point "defensive" quarter was ending, so I got to see the Wolves blow out the Magic 89-63 while I was there! This was unquestionably the best 3 quarters of basketball I have seen from this team this year...almost everyone was great, and Towns and Teague were a notch better. Thibs actually trusted his bench even though they were not nearly as effective as the starters ( no Wolf played more than 33 minutes), and did nothing that I would criticize. (Except for his awful language...I was only about 10 feet from him last night when he was roaming right, and his verbal reactions when the Wolves would miss a shot were even worse than usual). Anyway, good job Thibs...learn from this and trust your bench.
Glen was in Florida last night and was a rare absentee from his normal seats...I'm going to suggest he stay down there awhile! You can't diminish the significance of this win. The Magic were healthy and had won 3 of 4, including a 29-point win over Toronto, and the Wolves were missing their best defender and high-scoring 6th man. I certainly didn't expect the wolves to play 3 perfect quarters and win by almost 20.
The guy next to me told him how terrible we were in the first quarter on D, but all I saw the last three quarters was a motivated, swarming defense. Sure, Tolliver and Teague are limited in their defensive abilities, but teammates seemed to pick them up when they got lost on defense. Almost all threes were challenged...unusual for this Wolves team. Okogie doesn't need to take 9 shots (he only made two of them), but was a whirling dervish on defense...the kid is raw, but man is he fun to watch.
Teague was clearly our most effective PG last night...really nice offensive game from him. But the offense continues to be more fun to watch with Tyus running the point. But we don't win last night so easily without Jeff's offense.
We are watching something truly amazing in KAT as he continues to develop his already astonishing game...30/16.2/5.4 with 3.2 blocks in his last 5 games. When our two young stars KAT and Wig (he had that look in his eye that I haven't seen since the OkC game) play with intensity, this team revives my fading playoff hopes.
The only disappointment of the night was Biz Markie's halftime show...nothing worse than a fat, washed-up rapper with a bad sound system. But other than that, this was a special night.
Wait, Biz Markie is still hanging around? That's pathetic.
Zach Lowe seems to agree with us on Tyus. See his Friday 10 things column. No love for Okie yet but he mentions the solid close out D.

Do you think Glenn got mixed up and thought it was a road game???

Many, many, many other veteran players have been making this adjustment over the past few years and he's a good enough shooter that he should do the same. It would make our offense better and, as a side benefit, increase his value as a free agent.
Again, is this a coaching staff issue where they aren't emphasizing this enough or is it Teague stubbornly clinging to his way of playing? I don't know, but it's a problem either way.
Yes, last night he had a great game and deserves the game ball.
Sure. Agreed. I didn't read your post very well... if we're simply talking about taking open three pointers when they're available... yes. Thibs should be all over him to do so and it's very attainable.
