Everybody is missing out on the giant elephant in the room.
I think everybody agrees that Towns and Wiggins are two players who are good enough to get us to the playoffs every year. So now you gotta think whose going to help you or hurt you come playoff time.
Rubio is 18 for his last 62 shots! And were talking about start of the season where games don't matter as much and teams aren't trying as hard.
Look at what teams did to Tony Allen in the playoffs. Look at what the Cavs did to the Warriors and to Bougt. If you have a weakness, teams will exploit the shit out of that. Teams are going to make Rubio unplayable when they sag 5 feet off of him every time and make him score 30 points to win every night. You have to find a back up plan before this becomes an issue. Rubio is not going to be a good enough shooter to make teams pay
So what would you suggest we do? Right now we still seem totally dependent on him for our success.
I suggested a trade. The fact that were dependent on him to stay healthy should be looked at as a negative and not a positive to keeping Rubio in my opinion

Nobody is missing out on anything. I am as disheartened with Rubio's shooting as the next guy, and really question his off season work ethic, but you can't just sag off him or he will slice up a defense with his passing. They already go under screens, and leave him unattended on the weak side, so I don't really see what more they can do that will hurt us. He clearly is a huge step up on defense, and running the offensive sets. Let's worry about staying healthy and getting to the playoffs first.
Baby steps! :)
How will he kill you with passes if you sag off of him and double everyone else? That's what teams pretty much did to the Wolves in the 4th quarters in Love's last year here.

You need eight guys to double everyone else.
When you guard an inbounds passer do you stand five feet away or right up next to him? Why even guard him at all?

Fine, answer me this then, why were the Wolves so bad in 4th quarters in Love's last year here?

So what would you suggest we do? Right now we still seem totally dependent on him for our success.
I suggested a trade. The fact that were dependent on him to stay healthy should be looked at as a negative and not a positive to keeping Rubio in my opinion

They were a jump shooting team playing their starters big minutes, and guess what goes away late in the game, FG%.
Also, I believe Adelman went with JJ quite a bit in the 4th quarters, did he not?
Sure but they didn't far much better when Rubio was in the game either. Why wasn't he able to kill teams in the 4th quarter with his passing?
Maybe because they weren't sagging 5 feet off him. More importantly is how did we win any games without Ricky going off for 30 pts (which has never happened to my knowledge).
We have significantly differnt lineup than we had with Love.
As for your trade on the first page, why would the lakers take a worthless player in Rubio with what must be a ridiculous contract for Russell?

Page one thread one.
Doh! My bad.
Russell for Rubio, eh?
I guess it's hard for me to envision either team agreeing to that trade. And therein lies the problem - I just don't think there are many realistic scenarios out there that involve trading Rubio and getting something of equal value in return.
