Great stats, Anthony. I think Wiggins' increased free throw rate was a product of two things...1) learning how to draw fouls in the NBA, and 2) his greatly increased usage rate when all our other scorers got hurt. I think factor one will continue to increase as Wiggins learns the NBA game, but will be offset by a lower usage rate. I think he will still get to the line 5-6 times a game next year, even with a decreaeed usage rate.
LST - you are correct to assume his minutes/usage will probably go down. But will it be a huge drop? Here's his minutes per Game by month (to compare with FTA in original quote)
Oct - 21.0
Nov - 29.9
Dec - 33.9
Jan - 38.4
Feb - 38.7
Mar - 38.9
Apr - 41.1
You can see his MPG stayed pretty consistent the last four months, but his FTA (original quote) went up. So it wasn't strictly a usage issue. From what I recall, he was more aggressive to the basket. I'm hoping that's the Wiggins we'll be seeing to start this year.
I was one here that wasn't too concerned about Wiggins' huge minutes last year, but I think Flip played him so much out of necessity. There were a couple games where he only had 7 healthy bodies. If we're healthy this year and with the addition of new guys that Flip will be able to trust, I think his MPG will be less than 35 next year. And if he's on the court with guys whose primary role is to score and not pass (like Martin, Shabazz and Pek), his touches should go down too. It all makes us a better team though IMO.
You're right about his increased aggressiveness later in the season, though...that's definitely another reason his FTA went up so dramatically.

As far as your comment on his scoring average, I get your premise, but look at his monthly scoring averages last season. I just can't see him suddenly reversing trend and going backwards. He's going to be our best player in my opinion, and I just think he will get a ton of shots and improve as a total player from last year.
Please point out specific examples in this thread where that's been written... and is inaccurate.
Supporting material to refute those points would be awesome.

Seriously? Why would I waste my time on that?
Well, to be fair, you seem to have made a reactionary unfounded claim.
Maybe you saw something in this thread multiple other people have already claimed they do not. So by all means, share it to continue the discussion.
Or don't. But I gotta be honest, making seemingly outlandish statements and then running from them doesn't seem to be in the nature of what's a pretty good forum.

Okay my bad. I got the threads mixed up. Those statements were made in a different thread. A reasonable person would have known that. But you're absolutely right.

Wiggins averaged 37.9 minutes per game in 20 games around all star break that Wolves were relatively healthy. During that time he had following averages 17pts, 4.3rbs, 2.0asts, 1.1stls, 0.6blks, 1.8TOs with 20.97 USG% and .52 TS%. I think those numbers are basically floor for his next seasons numbers.
I assume that since even with relatively healthy Wolves team, Wiggins played late last season almost 38 minutes per game, he will play next season at least 36 minutes per game. Since I hope that Wiggins will be able to improve as much as fellow 19 year old rookie LeBron improved for his 2nd season, I predict that Wiggins would post following averages: 18.4pts, 5.4rbs, 2.0asts, 1.1stls, 0.6blks and 1.7TOs with 22 USG% and .55 TS% by playing 36 minutes per game.

LeBron James improved mightily in his second season... when he became one of the very best players in the league.
I don't know if it's realistic to expect that type of improvement from Wiggins (after all, James is one of the very best players in NBA history), but I'd love to see it.
I agree LeBron's improvement for 2nd season was pretty unique even if we compare it to some other wings that entered to league in relatively young age. What makes his improvement even more impressive is that his performance level as a 19 year old rookie was already really high. Also if we consider that he played 42.4 minutes per game as sophmore, his improvement was unreal.
But there has been also quite many other young wings that did make pretty dramatic improvement for their 2nd season. Especially when their rookie level performance have not been that high. I looked just PER to keep thing simple.
I expect that Wiggins will improve his PER with at least similar step than George and Bryant did. 27% improvement would put him around 17.7. That would make him already one of the best wings in league. Last year Harden, Thompson, Butler, Wade, LeBron, Durant, Leonard, Hayward, Melo and Gay were starting wings that beat that number.
