That's why Cleveland wouldn't do it unless they had some confidence it could help convince LeBron to sign. Not sure if you can basically ask a guy who's still technically under contract for another team whether he'd opt out and sign there if they traded for a certain player. If it came out that they did that, it'd make LeBron look pretty bad too. I guess he ditched Cleveland for Miami. So he'd just be flipping the script.

Then again, if you're Cleveland, you might need to be a little aggressive. Go out and take the risk of getting Love and you don't even have to tell LeBron you want him there, getting Love would say it through actions. At this point, looking at what happened to the Heat, I'd say there's at least a decent chance he'd bite, or at least he'd do one more year in Miami and then definitely be looking for Cleveland, especially if Irving and Love can make things happen in the East (which they probably could).

Has there been a mention of Cleveland even being interested in Love other than pipe dreams of persuading LeBron back home?

Just seems like everyone's erection over #1 is clouding their view of the situation and other rumored offers. Cleveland isn't the best offer for the wolves, because there hasn't been an offer from them.

"DEN/BOS/GSW deals aren't that good. Blake Griffin could still be had even though no one has talked about it but us."

Wasnt there a report that cavs wont mind taking love even if love wont commit? Also love did say he isnt ruling out cavs.

Love and irving are an ideal match actually. That will be hard as hell to defend in pick and roll situations, so many weapons and options between the two of them.

The cavs do own the rights to luol deng right? Love/irving/deng is a solid core. Pair that with a combination of 4 of waiters/tristan/bennet/varejao/miles/jack isnt bad. They could flip those for other assets and they can go over salary cap to resign spencer hawes as well. They have cap space too.

Yes, its a risk for them but I could see love/irving core being a playoff team in the east. Will love enjoy playing with irving more or playing with melo under fisher or kobe under rambis or scott? Thats the question for the cavs besides if lebron will come back to them.

They offered number 1 to us last year for Love. It's not that ridiculous to think that there is a reasonable chance it will be on the table again this year. They want to make the playoffs and adding a rookie isn't going to do much to help that goal even if it is an eventual star because rookies just don't make that big of an impact in year 1. Love is a star now. Love/Irving is a top 4 team in the East right now considering how weak it is. The only thing tabling the deal right now is the threat of Love not committing to them long-term, but he wants to win and they would be able to do it right away which helps that goal. Can they really afford to potentially miss another pick when a top 10 player is available for the taking? I like Wiggins and Parker, but that can't be mistaken for the fact that I like who they are going be in 3-4 years versus who they are going to be next year. I don't think Gilbert wants to wait 3-4 years and that's how long it takes for young guys to hit their strides in this league.

ah, never saw the report of Cleveland being interested in Love without a commitment and Love can't be anything short of diplomatic, what's he suppose to say when talking about Cleveland.

I just haven't gotten the vibe they're interested in trading #1 but like others have said this may just be playing hard to get.

Cleveland is in a good position in this. Whether they want love or not, they know they are the best deal for the wolves as they have the ace in the number 1 pick. Unlike bucks or sixers, they have a legit star in irving to sell love as well as other young assets to go with cap space.

They might as well wait for flip to call and they will be in the strong position in negotiations. Wont have to include their valuable assets. I dont see us saying no if they wont give us waiters or tristan. Getting the number 1 pick is the easiest sell for us to the fanbase. Gives the fans new hope and lessen the blow of losing an all star player.

There is absolutely a difference from this year to last. The Cavs would have had 2 years to work over Love. Now they have one. The top pick is much much much more valuable this year. They may be open to trading for Love without a commitment now but that does not mean the #1 is part of a non-commitment deal. It is possible that they leaked that info to get a better gauge from Kevin's people how he feels about Cleveland. As a Wolves fan, I have had many instances where I wanted to wish something into existence to help the team and this feels like that. I am not getting my hopes up.

Hah. i know how that feels phenom. Its tough to say, but its the best we can do. The other deals including the golden state one don't get me excited.

I thought up a GS trade that I think could work for all parties and not leave us with the Lee atrocity.

MN - Klay and Thad Young
GS - Love and Martin
Philly - Lee, Barnes and future 1st from GS

Philly just lost their shot at Parker and Wiggins with the Embiid injury, so why not snag a decent SF prospect to go along with the 3 and 10 picks for the right to overpay Lee for 2 years. They can take Embiid and roll with a Lee/Noel/Embiid frontline. Lee has one less year on his deal than Thad even though it is for twice the money. They have to hit the salary floor and Lee is a perfect candidate to give them someone to pay who won't ruin their rebuilding effort. A MCW/Gary Harris (10)/Barnes/Lee/Embiid (3) lineup with Noel as the first big off the bench would be a good rebuilding effort. I think Noel is still at least a year or 2 away from being ready for the NBA size and strength and to polish off his offensive game and that is perfect timing for Lee's deal to be up. We stay competitive with Klay, Thad and 13. GS gets their offensive juggernaut. The biggest reach in this deal is Philly, but their attitude could very well change with the Embiid news that just lost them a shot at Parker and Wiggins.
