I agree. Summer League is inherently chaotic, and Tyus certainly looks like he would fare better with more practice, and in a most established system. He's decent at improvising and delivering within a structured system, as he did in his brief time at Duke, but he won't have that until we get into training camp and pre-season. I think we definitely need to be patient, and we've seen LoBrow play with untalented players and do just fine, so I'm confident he can play with our starters and just keep the engine moving.

There's no reason to think we need anyone outside of Rubio, Jones, and Brown at this point, injuries excluded.

Uh oh, D Russell is having a terrible summer league. The Lakers better sign a veteran point guard and take away his playing time.

Silly. Tyus Jones is a fairly slow and undersized PG that was drafted with a late 1st rounder. It's not completely asinine for someone to propose the need for a veteran PG given our history and his lack of upside and experience. Who knows? May be Flip really is thinking about nibbling at that 8th seed as he surveys his roster. Playing Tyus Jones potentially big minutes at PG would not help matters in that regard.

Just as silly as burying Jones after 3 summer league games. That's the point.

Don't disagree with the burying part based on SL play, but given his draft position and salary slot, it's not an unreasonable position for someone to say we should go get a legit 2nd stringer. I think some folks have watched him play in SL and it perhaps just validated in their minds what they already believed, fair or unfair.

Zgoda tweeted that Youngblood said that Flip was open to a vet PG and there is some money left from the mid-level. Who will Flip be able to get that's worth getting interested over? Idk somehow he got Mo last year. Like I've said before I'll leave the PG situation up to Flip. Maybe he has a guy that has some interest if we end up having the most money to offer. Lol

Well then, I'm really angry about the 3 2nd round picks he cost us. If that isn't paying a high enough price to solve our backup PG issue, it should be. .

I agree, two high 2nd rounders and a third future one for a low-end 1st. Bad move in my opinion, but I valued Tyus coming out of Duke lower than most.

Surely I valued him higher, but that debate isn't going to end before his first training camp.

Cool -

I enjoyed your reply to my post. But you do know the title of this thread is "knee-jerk reactions from Vegas", don't you? So I gave my knee-jerk reaction to what I saw from the Wolves in Vegas. And I guess your reply was your knee jerk reaction to my post in Minneapolis. :).

I think my observations on Tyus were pretty accurate, although I'll concede Monster's point and admit that Tyus is faster than a tortoise. :). My conclusion was that he's not an NBA caliber back up "at this point." I think I'm right about that while of course I know it's only been three games. My next point was that "I don't see a path forward" for him becoming a quality NBA PG given his size, speed and skill set. Yes, He might become a quality NBA PG some day, but I have yet to see evidenceto convince me. That shouldn't be surprising when talking about a low first round pick. There aren't a lot of 24th picks who go on to become good NBA players.

Nevertheless, Flip has thus far proven to be a pretty good judge of college talent, so I haven't lost all hope for Tyus. And I can't say there was an obviously better alternative for the Wolves than Flip's swap of our two 2nd round picks and selection of Tyus. Time will tell, but "at this point" I think Flip should look beyond Tyus for a quality back-up at PG to start the season.
