Oh wait they already are.

That's great news. I'm liking the Hill signing better now. I think this is even better than having a team option for the second year, since I think we'd have to make a decision earlier (I believe when free agency starts if we had a team option) as opposed to a non-guaranteed second year.

This is what basketball insiders has for the deadline:

6/30/17 -- Jordan Hill's $4,180,000 guarantees for 2017/18.

So basically they have to make a decision before FA. I think they can renogotiate that date but maybe not. I don't know why Hill would be willing to do that.

So basically the Wolves have committed only 7.3 million in salary to the 2017-2018 cap for Aldrich while adding 3 solid depth players and still have cap space to many we with this year of they so choose. The Wolves should be well positioned going into FA next year to possibly add a player, or sit tight and keep their guys or a combination of both.

Sounds like second year of the deal is not a lock. I like the signing.

The Timberwolves will want to protect next season's potential max-level cap space. The second season of Hill's two-year, $8 million deal is non-guaranteed.
