Ugh. I hate watching A. Payne play basketball. It hurts my eyes. It hurts my soul.

Yeah, he had 22/16 or whatever. Meh. I saw enough of the R. McCants/M. Beasley/A. Randolph types to know a lost cause when I see it. A couple of plays stand out among a litany of decent plays or even good plays... and then awful basketball.

1st half. Chicago is shooting a free throw... Payne is on the block talking to the sidelines... officials... Bulls bench? Then, as the ball goes up, he puts his head down. Maybe he thought it was 2 shots even though it was an And 1? Portis literally walks past the slumped over Payne and tips the ball a couple of times and it goes in.

How did he get THAT lost covering Valentine at the end? Was that the plan? Because he wasn't close and it's not like Valentine shook him loose.

There was another play late where Payne got the ball and instead of the extra pass to a wide open Jones... he shot a contested 22 footer. I know a lot of guys do this. But when guys on the end of the bench who are known for stupid basketball plays do it... it's even more maddening. Pass the ball.

I really hated watching him play basketball tonight. I don't want to put myself through that ever again. Please take him away Thibs. Please save my soul.

I agree that Payne is difficult to watch, but you know what...he was difficult to watch at MSU too and was in the running for Big Ten POY. I don't think he is going anywhere. He is what he is, but Thibs knows there aren't many 6-11 guys who play hard with quick feet and can put up consecutive double doubles in the two final SL games.

Don't get me wrong...I don't see AP as a rotation guy, and I don't think Thibs does either. You know Thibs saw that bonehead play where he wasn't ready to rebound on the free throw. But as a depth big on a cheap contract, I'll take him at the end of my bench.

It's fine if he stays. After all, I embrace those types of guys. Heck, I only started posting online in the first place because I needed a place to vent about Rashad McCants...

Maybe you guys will find my meltdowns slightly entertaining should Payne find his way into the rotation.

I'm with you Abe. I no longer wish to see Payne dressed in a Wolves uniform ever again.

Great run by Summer Wolves. Hats off to Tyus and Ryan for getting the team into the championship when they had no business being there. I am guessing if anyones value around the league went up this summer it will be the value of Tyus. Good to see Flips last move working out.

I got a kick out of the announcers mentioning the Wolves #24 seed 3 or 33 times last night.

It's not like they got that seed from an 82-game season for chrissakes. It was a whopping THREE games.

Yeah the one thing that does make the 24th seed worse is that they gave points for winning quarters like the old CBA. Pretty sad that didn't help the wolves at all. It's a pretty meaningless tourney in general but it's something I guess and it's a nice story. I'd rather hear that than talking about how Payne has a lot chance of playing minutes or how Pek is healthy. Of course the other thing is they also played a lot of teams in the tourney that shut down their good players. Chicago had their full team and they had to have some heroics to win. I wouldn't take much from that but...it is something to consider for a quick moment for whatever coaching they had for that squad especially compared to young Ryan Saunders and some guys that just showed up at some point after being hired.
