Don't forget that he's also one of the biggest pains in the ass in the league.

Golden State got lucky I tell you! A full-strength Clippers squad would have given them a hell of a run without Curry. May be it's just meant to be that San Antonio and Golden State meet in the Conference Finals.
They got lucky all of last season's playoffs too. Constantly running into teams where prominent players were banged up or couldn't even play. Then there's the Clippers thing this year too. Oh, and Curry only likely to miss two weeks instead of a lot longe with that knee injury.
Frankly, I'm really tired of it. I already can't stand Golden State because of their personality as a team, but now they're getting unnecessary help from higher powers. It's annoying as fuck.
 They're really not that unlikeable of a team. Sure, Draymond can be annoying. But how do you not like Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Bogut, Livingston et al? I love watching them play. And they sure didn't luck their way into 73 wins.

I'm a bit biased because I dig Golden State... but I don't get the hate for them.
It's an unselfish team that plays hard and shares the ball. It's a team where guys willingly take a secondary role for the good of the team. They seem to know the "SECRET" as Isiah Thomas described it in The Book of Basketball. I think that should be applauded in today's leagues/society where everybody is seemingly out to "get theirs."
As for getting lucky... there are circumstances that happen virtually every single season that end up swinging the title. SAS or Cleveland may win a title this season because Curry doesn't recover in time. They won another title in part because Nash's nose wouldn't stop bleeding at the worst possible time... AND... a Spurs cheapshot led to a couple of suspended players from the Suns. Miami won its first title just because the league decided at that moment to strictly enforce a no-touching (handcheck) policy. The Lakers won a title (and changed the legacies of Bird vs. Magic) largely because McHale broke his foot. The list is very long...

Here is my problem with Golden State. They are the defending champs and getting all hyped up, jumping up and down all over the place and celebrating in a 1st round series against a team that has basically imploded on itself this year. For goodness sake, act like you've been there before!
I really hope San Antonio knocks them off. I'm all in with the Spurs this year.
(I have absolutely no problem with how Golden State plays stylistically. It's been great for the NBA and they are a ridiculously good team. Still, it doesn't mean I have to root for them!)
((Oh, and Draymond Green is getting on my nerves. Same with Curry. Both invoke a combination of jealousy and annoyance that my better side can't overcome. So yeah, I hope the Spurs serve them up a large helping of humble pie)).

Yeah, I don't hate GS either. And I get a chuckle out of hearing them described as "lucky" in the playoffs this year. I get that other teams are losing key players to injuries, but Golden State has lost the player of the year for 2 weeks and maybe more...some luck! They really demonstrate that this is a player's league. Did they look any worse with Luke Walton coaching them? So much for the importance of coaching.
We'll have to see how Curry bounces back from his injury, but if he's significantly slowed, then the Spurs or Cavs move into the favorite's role.

History and context is important here LST. Let's reflect back to last season's playoffs and title series. Literally every team they played along that journey had key players hurt. Cleveland was without Love AND Irving! Meanwhile, all of GS's main guys were healthy.
Now, GS hits some bad luck with Curry. So what happens next? The team they would most likely face in the next round has their two freakin' best players hurt and out of the playoffs in the same damn game! Now they are going to get to play an upstart 5th seed instead of a full-strength Clippers squad.
Sorry, but that is damn lucky.

I frustratingly learned a long time ago that staying healthy is part of being a good team. Generally speaking, durability is a skill not good fortune. If you can't stay healthy, it shouldn't be so much an excuse, as an acceptance of a weakness.

I don't think Golden State is getting lucky this year. Them handling losing Steph was impressive. They earned the 1 spot, and even if Steph is back for the WCF I can't see him feeling great at that point. If they make it through this adversity and find a way to win it all I will be very impressed. I think this is Cleveland's year as I posted earlier.
I do agree with GS being a bit over the top with the celebrations and showboating. But the NBA has been about entertainment for a while. I think it just seems distasteful when they are so good and they don't need to add that stuff.

Wait. Remind me what happened last season again... I might be missing something.
- Beat NO 4 - 0. Who was the key guy injured? Holiday? More importantly, would it have made any difference?
- Beat Memphis 4 - 2. I see Conley and Allen played in only 5 of the games. Do you think the Grizzlies had a chance with them?
- Beverley for Houston? Terrence Jones? GSW won 4 - 1. Would either guy have made a difference?
- The Finals... obviously... with Irving and Love out.
It should also be noted... that the Warriors went 67 - 15 in the regular season... with the #2 rated offense and #1 rated defense. It's not like they sneaked up on anybody. They were by far the most dominant team in the league.

I agree with half of your comment, q. While I still thought that GS was the best team in basketball last year, they were awfully lucky with injuries compared to their opponents all the way through. But I just can't wrap my mind around the concept of a team being called lucky after losing the best player in basketball. I think a full-strength Golden State team beats a full-strength Clippers team much worse than a Curry-less (or even Curry-hurt but playing) Warriors team beats a full-strength Portland team...that leads me to the conclusion that GS has been unlucky this year, not lucky.
