Yep, another game that had shit for officiating consistency down the stretch. Wolves D was crap on a few plays, but still. So sick of officiating. Maybe adding another ref on the court for each game would help?

That was fun...best game to watch all year. Love was unconscious. Most of us probably thought it wasn't going to turn out well, but it was nice to see us go down to the wire with a top 3 team on their court. Could have used more contribution form Martin and our bench tonight.

On the one hand, an incredible game to watch. Love's 3rd quarter - and in fact both teams' 3rd quarter - was just amazing to watch. Notice how Pop didn't just reflexively call a time out during Love's hot streak? He just let the team play through it. That is Wooden-esque.

But once you get over the shock and awe of Love's performance, there is a lot to be disappointed about. Brewer and Martin once again provided inefficient offensive performances. Our bench was its usual impotent self. And Rubio and Pek missed key shots when it mattered most (the Pek bunny at the rim and the Rubio open 3). And probably most disturbing was that our defense was helpless in the 4th quarter as the Spurs clinically destroyed us.

Great game on the surface, but it would have been an easy blowout for the Spurs if Love hadn't gone nuts in the 3rd quarter. They still made it look pretty easy in the 4th.

Oh, and the Spurs scored 62 points in the paint.

Gorgui Dieng: DNP.

The bench got outscored 55-12.

Shabazz Muhammad: DNP.

No excuses for this. None.

Luc had a solid 10 mins though.

Yes....the spurs are a great team.....but man, a 4th quarter scorer would have helped us a lot tonight.

The Spurs are a great team. But I wouldn't give the Wolves too much credit. Kevin Love had a spectacular scoring night along with his usual stellar rebounding. That's what kept the Wolves in the game. But the same old huge weaknesses were apparent again tonight:

1. The Wolves were terrible again defensively, allowing the Spurs to shoot 55% from the floor. You just don't win games in the NBA when your opponents shoot over 50% from the floor.

2. The Wolves bench was horrible -- D-League v. NBA. Dante and Luc combined for 0 points, 0 steals, 0 blocks and 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. As for Luc's defense, I'll just reiterate that the Wolves gave up 117 points on 55% shooting. So Luc's 10 minutes of defense were entirely inconsequential. (By the way, in his 30 minutes tonight, Derrick Williams had 14 points, 4 boards and a steal. He also had a +20.).

3. Each of our two starting wings shot 33% from the floor.

Terrible defense and a terrible bench are the two constants that continue to plague this team and that may ultimately put the Wolves back in the lottery after this season. Add to that the lack of a go-to guy who can score off the dribble in crunch time and it's hard to see how this rpteam can beat teams like the Spurs. But I love the way Love is playing recently on the offensive end.

Well we have still yet to beat a top tier team. Hard to see it happening with our squad. Great output by Dante and Luc.
