KG gives us another guy who is going to give a crap whether or not we win. We need ultra-competitive guys like him to instill that in the young guys on the team through his actions on and off the court. He doesn't need to put anyone under his wing and it never hurts to bring in more guys who give a crap and also instill the value of teamwork on a team. JJ is not going to be a positive influence on Lavine as he pretty much killed all of Shved's potential because his ultra-competitiveness wasn't based on teamwork, but him playing hero-ball and being a black hole . Bud can't stay on the court and Robinson is going to be able to shoot just as well as him at a much cheaper price point while having more athleticism. Shved just never worked out here. Whether or not you believe he was out of position during his time here, I think he needs a change of scenery and getting him back with AK 47 and Prokhorov could help revive his career. That's not a lot of value we'd be giving up for another body in the front court which we need. KG can still shoot and he can protect the rim for 15 minutes a night to keep us from overworking the other players. None of us are the same person we were 10 years ago, so I don't get how you can still envision him being the same player and person in 2014-15 that he was in 2004-05. We need a backup big and backup PG on this team, so you have to sign one and trade for the other.
This factor would outweigh any positive mentoring a player could provide. You could probably count on one hand the players who seemingly cared night in and night out whether the Wolves won.
