Well we also have 4mil trade exception so basically any combination of twoo 4+ mil contracts should be enough to match the incoming salary. This is kinda power move by Flip, it shows you that he would rather have Bledsoe maxed than Ricky maxed and i cant blame him for that it actually makes sense. I guess that we will offload Ricky and some unwanted contract + trade exception.
Only danger is that Ricky might end up with Hornacek who will fix Ricky's shooting and we will look like complete retards one more time :-D .

I dont think you can combine the trade exception with any contracts in a trade. The exeption can only be used in a straight up trade for a player, cant combine it with other players in a trade.

This is Flip being too clever by half. It has to be a sign and trade - they don't want either Peks or KMarts contracts (Flip did them both), so some pipe dream 3 team deal has to happen, and won't.
The net net here is Ricky's agent is saying, "my guy doesn't sign for a nickel less tha what you saw fit to offer Bledoe".

Anybody think they threw this out there as a way to let Bledsoe know he has a place to play when he becomes un-restricted next year? I like Rubio and Bledsoe together a lot. That's a get dirty back-court with a lot of heart.
To hell with that option. I know LaVine's a gamble, but he's on his rookie contract and he has all the tools needed to become an elite player in this league. Size, freakish athleticism, shooting ability, handle, court vision, defensive potential. Not to mention I see leadership skills and the fire/drive to be great, two characteristics that aren't always there for young players. It's also really cool that he wants to be in Minnesota and change this culture. Seems to be interested in what the state has to offer and something about that makes me feel good. My last point is almost meaningless, I'm sure, but it's still worth noting.
As far as I'm concerned, LaVine's as untouchable as Wiggins and Dieng. Those are our true building blocks.

I agree with Cam. No way I include Lavine in the deal. I actually think he might be the guy we have been trying to find for the last 15 years. He has size, athleticism, and skill. Not sure if he puts it all together, but I am willing to wait to find out.
I am just not sold on Bledsoe anyway. If he is a max player, then I guess Gorgi is as well, based on sample sizes. Flip looks to have set the wolves up pretty well for this season. Why not wait and see how they do for the first month or so before shaking anything else up. If you can get Bledsoe by giving up guys like martin, Bud and JJ, then by all means pull the trigger, but we all know that isn't getting it done.
Bledsoe worked well with Dragic because Dragic is a good perimeter shooter. Rubio doesn't have that skillset, and so I don't see them as a good match offensively. We will also be limiting our defensive size again as well, and I am tired of playing small lineups when we finally have a roster that doesn't have to go that route. I also don't want to put Rubio on bigger stronger players. That's how he tore his ACL the first time.

Good post. I'll agree LaVine ain't going anywhere.
I like Bledsoe and if a team needs to sell out and sign him to the max especially if its a 4 year deal do it. Like you I don't see the fit here to sell out for the max and yes no way the Suns are going to take some junk for Bledsoe they might as well just let him walk.

Bledsoe is good, but is he much better then Monta Ellis. Better defender, but semi comparable.
So what will our cap space look like next summer once we do the QO for Rubio?

he's night and day when it comes to a defender.
It depends on the cap going up, but they probably won't have a ton depending on what they do with thad.
You gotta understand though, in the landscape of the NBA, yea Bledsoe isn't worth the max. When it comes to the Wolves and FA though, Bledose is about the best level of talent that would sign with the Wolves. Even then it's going to have to be the max. So yes signing Bledsoe to the max wouldn't be an overpay
