I don't see that Hoiberg's raise eliminates him as a candidate. He already had a 10-year contract at ISU with a $500K buyout if he decided to go to the pros, so I don't see how this changes things that much. I'm guessing that Fred didn't ask for this less than a year after he signed his contract, so I'm guessing this is a gift from ISU. It just shows me that ISU is worried about him leaving, and decided to sweeten the pot in an attempt to keep him. The raise gets him closer to what he could earn with the Wolves, but still isn't likely to be very close. I still think Fred accepts an offer if Glen gives him one.

Papalrep, Howland is still available, because Marquette selected someone else. He has a quirky personality, so despite his good record, he may be a difficult hire. Love likes him though.

I have read a lot about SVG on this board, but does anyone have any knowledge that he is on the Wolves radar? Frankly, I haven't seen anything about him other than what I have read here. Why do we think he is a candidate?

Thanks for sharing that, phenom. I agree that is persuasive. While players and coaches don't generally have a problem lying to the press, Freddy doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would say something like this if he was considering a Wolves job. I'm moving on to other candidates.

ISU has had a history of paying their basketball coaches pretty well and this is a sign they plan to keep that up. This quote by Freddie is genuine. He has said for years this is his dream job and he outlined it out in this quote. Maybe in a few years he might change his mind but he has it really good there and making good money in a pretty low cost area to live in.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but I think a lot of people on this board (and nba franchises too) see the benefit of getting a younger coach they can stick with for a while instead of chasing someone thats good like we did with Adelman but know he probably won't coach for long because he is old. Many of the young guys people have wanted are basically bit going to happen. I just thought of a young guy that could end up being the next coach of the Timberwolves. Sam Cassell. Only speculation, but he has been an assistant (brought on board by Flip) with the Wizards since 2009 and as I said earlier has Wolves connections. Its just a thought and I don't know if it would work at all, but its a bit interesting to think about. Cassell seemed to wear out his welcome some places, but he also saw pretty much everything in his playing career. Maybe he can impart some of that wining experience and swagger to this team. Its going to be interesting to see what happens since so many Adelman folks have places on the team. Cassell could come in with a ready made staff for him though too.

I would guess Flip and Adelman may have talked about what is going ot happen a little and Flip I think has a great deal of respect for Adelman so he isn't going to be doing anything till the season is over which is why we probably haven't heard about any interest in any guys, but is it possible Flip has someone in mind (not that he is decided on that guy, but someone that he is already considering) already? Sam would fit that mold. I haven't heard if anyone within the organization is being considered. Maybe Porter? I hope not but we could do worse I guess.

As I have stated before I am pretty interested in Hollins as the next coach, but it will be interesting to see what guys they look at especially if they go for some younger guys.

I'm guessing Flip has someone in mind. And it will be just like this organization to bypass any sort of "search process", and just name the guy they like. You know, like Taylor did with Flip last year...
