Leonard Miller benched down in Iowa due to lack of effort. Really bad look for him (he did have 5 fouls in these clips)
https://x.com/WolvesClips/status/174094 ... 13610?s=20
To go along with this there was a writer for Canius Hoops in Leo. Who shared his texts from 2 weeks ago (he watches every Iowa game) and pretty much said Miller defensive understanding and effort is really bad right now and he has offensive upside but people saying he should be in the rotation because of clips and garbage time highlights are really wrong.
Interesting. Was it for sure a benching? Or did he just sit with five fouls? Here's the box and game story:

Miller had 16 points in only 17 minutes. Unfortunately also accumulated 5 fouls and only ONE rebound. Kid has talent. Starting to wonder about the drive though...
Also, just when I was starting to get excited about Trevor Keels, he throws up a 1 for 12 shooting night. Maybe he needs glasses? Ugh! The G-League guys are frustrating with inconsistency. Reminds me of the old Timberwolves (LaVine, Wiggins etc.). They flash and then they disappear.
He did not return after he came out at the 740 mark

Ouch! Those Leonard Miller lowlights are really damning. Watching him in those clips brought back chilling memories of Derrick Williams and Wes Johnson - players with great physical talent who were never particularly serious about playing basketball. I’ve noticed that Miller’s rebounds have been down significantly compared to last season. If those clips are an indication of who he is, then the Wolves should definitely consider offering him up for Tyus Jones.

A couple things:
1. Keels had a poor shooting night he had 8 assists to 2 turnovers.
2. People don’t seem to talk about MILLER’s 3 point shooting. He is young his value and still hitting them. That’s not a small development. As for his defense I always thought it was a work in progress. I watched the highlights. The first clip I’m not even sure why he was called for a foul he was just standing there. Silva is a pretty good player sort of the AAAA type guy and he has a unique game. As for Miller’s rebounding I wonder how much he is on the perimeter this year and also wonder about the team in general. They don’t play with a whole lot of size/bigs.
Lip I would not hear irate to trade Miller or Minot IF I knew Tyus was staying longer term (at least a couple years). I see him as actually being the type of guy that you give up assets to get. Tyus is a player that could help with the PG situation but I wonder how much it would take to get him. I could see teams willing to give up at least 2 assets to get him so Miller and Anderson (Kyle would probably be re-routed to another team) might not even be enough. Losing Anderson would be a big loss. As much as I like Tyus I think I would rather plan to resign Anderson and for less than what Tyus would cost and take a chance you can find another guard from the scrap heap/under valued pile etc. If the Wolves make a run this playoffs they are going to be a team that players are gonna be more interested in signing with. I think anderson is more Bowie and harder to replace than finding a rotation level/fringe starting guard that can play some PG.

Happy New Year! Iowa lost again last night. Here is the box:
https://gleague.nba.com/game/cps-vs-iwa ... =box-score
Leonard Miller had a double double with 19 points/10 rebounds. Good to see the rebounding up again. WMJ isn't doing much at Iowa...I don't see him around next year. Maybe Jaylen Clark will take his roster spot.

I still don't get TC picking up his option for next season...

All these guys are lotto tickets. If one becomes the next NAZ or JMac, I think that's a success. Here are the stats I look at for the main guys I feel are worth watching:
PER:
35.1 - Garza
21.1 - Miller
19.8 - Minott
16.7 - Stephenson
13.2 - Keels
12.3 - Nix
9.2 - WMJ
WS/48
.219 - Garza
.122 - Miller
.055 - Stephenson
.054 - Minott
.040 - Keels
(.057) - WMJ - in the negative
(.060) - Nix - also negative
+/- (per game)
+13.3 - Garza
+4.3 - Nix
+3.0 - Minott
0.0 - Stephenson
(1.6) - Keels is negative
(4.6) - WMJ is negative
(5.0) - Miller is negative
I personally don't put as much weight into +/- as some guys on here do....but I do look at it. It's interesting to me that Nix shows up well in that stat, but poorly in the other two. While Miller is the exact reverse - showing up decent in the first two, but poorly in +/-. I find a lot of anomalies in +/- which is why I don't blindly rely it myself. But as noted, I do look at it as many times it sort of follows the trend of the other stats as is the case with WMJ.

Miller was ejected yesterday for throwing a ball into the stands.

Sheesh, not a good look. Is this guy serious about playing in the NBA? I'm starting to wonder.

Iowa loses again last night. Here is the box:
https://gleague.nba.com/game/mhu-vs-iwa ... =box-score
WMJ had 22 points/8 rebounds. He needs to do that more often.
Leonard Miller had 16 points/7 rebounds.
I'm not watching, but based on the scores - defense is a big problem down there.
