Any hypothesis looks good when you cherry pick a data set that favors your side. Still would prefer Jaden plus what ever Randle turns into in a trade in the offseason vs back end career Gianni’s at that contract and a gutted roster. They always suck for day games. Move on tot the next one.
I tend to side with not trading those two for Giannis. Trading for older vets making supermax money isn't usually a smart move. He's also been banged up, missing time, slowing down and then there is the fact that Rudy and Giannis really can't play together on offense. So now you have to trade Rudy too.
I think it's easy to say we should have made a trade after a bad game or two by those guys, but let's look at the entire picture. And it's not like Giannis has had any playoff success himself for a long time too. Is he really as good as he once was? Just looked it up, yep, One and done the last three years. Ok his supporting cast isn't great. But I still see more success from Joker and other elite players.

I am into winning a championship. Not always falling short, for the remainder of this teams window. Give me 1 championship in a 3 year window, then 20 years of putrid Wolves play. I can live with that if it gets me that title.

But is there championship window that much better or better at all if trading for Gannis hollows out the middle of the roster and you have no draft assets to bring in reinforcements?
Fwiw I would much rather watch a competitive team with a superstar like Ant for 10+ years than gain a championship at the expense of 20 years of basement play. It's just more interesting and fun to analysis and watch a competitive team

I'd take the chip and 20 years of putrid, but I'm not sure Giannis does that with Ant and who else? As you say, the roster gets real thin after those two when you have to give up so much to get Giannis.
Let's see how this year finishes and that will for sure sway my opinion going into the summer. We finish strong with a deep playoff run I probably say keep the band together. We struggle and lose early then, I can get on board probably making a bigger trade.

I'm going on record that this team can beat anyone in a 7 game series now. Doesn't mean they will but they can.

Phenom, I get that feeling once in a while too. But their inconsistency shows up with a bad performance every time I start to believe. I don't know what to think at this point.

I feel the same way, Cool. I’m done trying to explain it because I can’t. I’m truly at a loss. We’ll see how things play out, but a loss like last night’s, along with the many similar unacceptable losses all season, makes it very hard to have much confidence in this team.

Eventually they are what the record says they are and at a more granular level, they have the 7th best net rating- 10th off- 8th def.
Good but a few sizable gaps from great- even if their highs give off the appearance of greatness.
My high level take at this point I guess is that the asymmetrical roster allows them to really take advantage of mismatched opponents, but unfortunately there's a lack of resourcefulness when their best strengths aren't fully available to them.
Ant is probably the most resourceful by way of sheer talent and tbh he is fairly often able to step up and fill gaps in a matchup, "oh we need more rebounding in this one, I can do that" type of stuff like in the last OKC game as the best example. He can also punish a defense at any level.
But outside of him and Donte who on this roster can have a "good" game even if their best skill isnt coming through. I really like Naz a lot, but my biggest frustration with him is that if his shot isn't falling, he's nearly guaranteed to have a meh to bad game. To me, as a competitor, it confusing the idea that if you're shot isn't falling or whatever that you wouldn't dig in in other areas of the game. Get a rebound and run the floor, force a turnover, help put together a sequence of stops that help you generate transition offense.
The other issue that pretty much dooms any and all hope I have for a long playoff run is that through almost 2 full season plus a long playoff run, Ju and Ant haven't developed a consistent two man game.... There is just so little synergy on this team! They have more chemistry and can play off each other better than KAT and Edwards ever did but it's still not reliable at all.
A talented roster but the pieces rarely fit
