Harrison Hand and Kris Boyd could be options.
We drafted and developed Kearse but he became too expensive. Kind of shocked with Harris being a tough guy to retain long-term and Smith getting up there in age why we didn't replace Kearse with another young prospect to develop. Also safety is a prime time special teams contributor so not having any on that unit is going to be interesting to see how it is impacted.

That was a great pick. I was thinking we might go safety in the 4th round. That seems to be a value round for safeties in past drafts.

They do know you can't call up a practice squad safety in the middle of a game right lol? Oh and our entire DB secondary is young so who's gonna be able to fill in for even a couple plays for Smith or Harris if needed? That guy is getting throw at immediately if that happens.
I wonder if they are exploring a trade at the moment? Nobody keeps 7 WR's. Never heard of that before.
They can have 2 PS players active on game day so they have depth for at least week 1. The article I read said you can have a PS player active for 2 games before you have to actually sign them to the roster. They can't be active 2 consecutive weeks. You can also protect a few players every week from being signed from the practice squad to another team's roster. Another change for this year is vets being able to be in the PS which is why Brett Jones is on there. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to get another Safety to sign to the PS like that guy they picked up from I think it was the Dolphins. He is probably exploring all his options as a young vet with some starting experience.
I'd also guess they feel like they could move someone from CB to Safety and be ok to finish a game...I mean they might feel more comfortable with that than some of the new young safeties they had in camp which...isn't exactly a good thing but it is what it is.
It is a lot of WRs but if they feel those guys are more talented than another spot then you keep them until you have to make another move. Injuries sometimes work these types of things out. It's also worth considering that after Thielen there is no proven high level guy although they drafted Jefferson in the first round. They may be hoping to hit on another high level guy that was added to the roster with low resources.
Thanks for the information. Spielman does know that you can't go 7 wide right? I guess you could put them in at tackles and make both eligible? Or can you only make one lineman eligible per play? lol

Last year they did draft Epps but they lost him tot he Eagles when they picked up Sendejo...basically a trade of waiver claims. Epps is still with the Eagles. Idk if Epps would have been any good but apparently the Eagles think he is good enough to keep on their roster. Meanwhile the Vikings have had success with undrafted safeties in Sendejo and Harris so idk maybe they will get the right guy to develop at some point or maybe have them around right now as they have one on IR Dorn and the other Metellus on the PS.

I think Mike Hughes would be in the mix As a possible replacement at Safety in game.

This is not good. I think he will be out a lot longer.
I wasn't worried about his injury...I guess I should have been but the good thing was I didn't spend time worrying. Lol Hopefully he isn't out too long but who knows.
