A less exciting guy I thought of is Brandon Bass. The Celtics seem like they could use a wing maybe they would be interested in Bud and Shved. Yeah that's dreaming but I would think Bass could be had for something he is an expiring and Boston has a bunch of bigs.
Or Jeff Green...
Bass crossed my radar, too. But he's already an expiring contract. I would think Boston would rather use Bass as part of a much bigger deal.
If Boston ends up going for cap space next off season, moving Jeff Green makes sense.
I think Bass being an expiring is good for the Wolves he isn't the answer he is just a solid vet guy that can play some decent minutes. Really though the only guy other than maybe Thad Young (who is a maybe for me) that could be the answer is Monroe. It seems like the thought out there is he might be more of a C or at the very least PF/C type that's best if you play him at both spots. I am not sure if that works with Pek and Dieng. Obviously I don't know what we would be offering the Pistons to get him and oh and we would have to pay Monroe too. I like Monroe a lot, but I'm not sure that works for a lot of reasons. I'm sure if Flip got us Wiggins and Monroe we would be doing backflips and therefore buying a lot of Chiropractic Groupons. Lol

Why do we need another center?
He can play PF, and did for a lot of the year last year. Great fit with Dieng
He's more suited to play center. On offense he's interchangeable. On defense, he's no bueno against opposing power forwards. Awful in pick-and-roll defense and you really don't want him guarding the perimeter, in my opinion. Wish we had him over Wes Johnson a while back, but that's a different story.
This last part isn't necessarily aimed at you, but Dieng gets so much love on these boards it's hard to know how good he actually is. Everyone's a great fit with Dieng. Dieng's a two-way center with All-Star upside, or at least some on here seem to think. Personally, I've slowed down a bit on the Dieng hype train and would like to see how he does with consistent rotation minutes over a full season. After that, I'll feel more confident in projecting him as a player and how good he fits with other players. I loved Dieng pre-draft and still feel really good about him right now, but we definitely need to see more of him.

Do I think Dieng is a sure fire all star? No. Should he start this year? Probably not. But i think we've seen enough of him to predict what kind of player he'll be. I think it's a rim protector, who's always gonna struggle with strength, but makes up for it in length and athleticism. While, Monroe isn't very athletic but is long and strong. Monroe would be more offense oriented while, Dieng would be Defense oriented. Both are 24, and could be long term building blocks.

I just looked again at Monroe's stats again and yeah he would be better next to an athletic player that protects the rim. Monroe has nice steal stats but isn't a rim protector. Putting him next too Pek would give you 2 big players with similar strenths and weakness (on defense) and one having to guard PFs.
Yeah Dieng is getting hyped up a little too much I think but its partly because people are rolling with young exciting players and hoping for good things. Dieng I liked before the draft and I still like him but we need another year to see better what he is going to be. I think he helps this team this year as a rotation player but as high as I am on him its possible he never becomes quite good enough to be a starting Center.
Is this some sort of bizzaro world where the Wolves have a lot of legit looking depth at C and not much at PF? WOW. Lol On the other hand it always seems easier to find useful PFs compared to half decent Centers so that's good. For this coming year I'm not sure what is out there that's really too exciting. Some guys got signed I would have liked.
I'd prefer Monroe to Pek, but I just don't see how you get him. A third team would have to get involved and you'd probably have to get him at the max. Detroit is filled with wings already. I could see Bennett fitting there being a stretch 4 next to Drummond, but where would the other salary come from to make the deal work?

KMart and Bennett. Detroits SGs are Meeks and KCP. Neither are exactly starters. Don't know if I want Monroe at the max though
