LST is right - the numbers don't quite work, which is why Cleveland acquired those non-guaranteed contracts a week ago to include in the trade, thus making the numbers work. This is also why we won't be sending any other players to Cleveland - they can't take on any more $s, and they have no other players to include in a trade (well, except for Waiters, but I don't think he's going anywhere).
Lip - your comment on the number of contracts is not quite right. Teams are not limited to 15 contracts during the off-season (it's something like 20). So the Wolves can make the trade and be sitting with 16 contracts. Of course, Flip will be working hard on a 2-1 deal to get a starting PF after the Wiggins trade (I say after because I believe Flip will need to include the #1 pick he gets from Cleveland).
As for GR3, I half expect him to be heading to Cleveland. And if not, I will be surprised if GR3 is signed this year -- let him mature elsewhere for a year and pretend he's your first round pick next year when you don't have one. How many inexperienced players does Flip want this year? Four guys with one year of NBA experience (Bennett, Shabazz, Deing and Hummel) and two rookies (Wiggins, LaVine).
Eventually we need to get to 15. And I doubt Flip will do a deal that would leave him with an excess of players and no pre-agreed deal to get to 15.
Lip don't forget the Wolves dumped CJ last year they could cut someone this year too. People say that Glen wouldn't want to pay Shved or whoever to not play while we sign some other guy. I don't see the difference in cutting Shved to say sign GR3. You are paying that money to Shved whether he plays or not and Glen is just paying an extra. $800,000 for a player with more upside in that scenario. I'm not saying that's what is going to go down I'm just saying I don't think its as big of a deal cutting a guy as some people think. Of course Flip probably is dealing some guys away at some point so Glen won't be eating anything too big.
Sidenote: I'm down on Shved but I'm not sure how Flip feels about him.
Still would like to see us to make a move for Ilyasova. Bucks got a grip at PF. Hell, I would trade most assets to get Ilyasova (PF), Wolters (PG) and the Greek Freak (SG).
Budinger, Pek and Martin for Pechulia, Ilyasova, Giannis and Wolters. Total pipe dream!

Can't help but wonder about Glen sometimes. Why on earth would he open his mouth about this right now. There is no upside and only potential downside. Flip must be shaking his head right now.

Bud plus Shved for Ersan might work for me although I get the impression Flip doesn't want to add salary next year. Ersan would be about 3 million more than Bud so that's not a ton. If that was his deal it seems like signing Hummel as a stretch 4 doesn't make sense.

Keep in mind that Glenn got 2 million from trading picks for cash. That extra cash can cover most of Shved's deal making it even easier for Glenn to buy him out.

The Wolves will have to clear one roster spot to make room for the two Cleveland players received in exchange for Love. Buying out Shved would do the trick. But if the Wolves want to sign GRIII or another veteran free agent, they'll have to trade at least one other current roster player without getting a guaranteed contract in return or trade multiple current roster players for fewer players in return.
Bottom line is that the Wolves will trade at least one current roster player in addition to Love before training camp even if they do buy out Shved.
