I was wrong about the Warriors depth. Looks like they'll have no problem adding ring chasing veterans for minimum cost.

Edit: similar to what khans posted, but I see OKC as still the 4 or 5 in our conference with Westbrook leading.
They're still a playoff team with Westbrook. Remember, it's not unprecedented to win 40+ games without Durant. They won 45(?) without him for most of the season.
And with the emergence of Adams and Oladipo... I think next year's team is better... And better than MN.
Yup. OKC was cut down a big notch, but we're going to be fighting like dogs to make the playoffs. I can easily see us missing out unfortunately. I hate being in the West!
.500 ball made the playoffs in the West last year, do you really think it's going to be that much better this year? Now if you're saying we are going to be fighting for a .500 record we can have that discussion. But I don't think we will miss the playoffs because it's going to take 50 wins to get in.
If were as talented as we think, and our coach is as accomplished as most of you think, isn't it time to make a move? If not now, when?
.500 ball made the playoffs last year in the West, but that was an anomaly. Rarely does that get it done in the Western Conference and I see no reason it won't go back to "normal" (i.e. 45+ wins minimum) based on the free agency movement.
So yes, because I think we will win something in the 40-45 game range, I do believe we will be in a dogfight for that last playoff spot.
I think going from 29 to 40 wins is a very nice step forward. You yourself thought 50 wins was possible "with good fortune", and since I always assume some amount of bad fortune like injuries, perhaps we aren't as far apart as you might think! I also can't reconcile your ~ 50-win prediction with a top 4 playoff seeding.
It was an anomaly, because Golden State's absurd win/loss record depressed the other win/loss records in the league. A .500 record made the playoffs because Golden State went 73-9, and how often is that going to happen? I think we're all in agreement that there's no way that the Warrio...
Never mind.

Yeah, there will always be ring chasers. But I think Wolves' fans will have a very different impression of ring chasers in 7-8 years. We will be challenging for the championship annually with our three max stars at their peak, and we won't have much cap room for a supporting cast. We will be relying on ring chasers to keep us on top.

I thought J.R Smith had a solid finals when LeBron and Irving decided to pass him the ball. I don't hate the idea of him, he's a guy that can hit ya 4 3's in a quarter on any given night.
Maybe he's been snatched up already?

I'm curious if Rush is interested or Allen Anderson. Would be nice if we could get a wing to committ.

Dang, I would have liked to be the recipient of Diaw in a salary dump.

Anyone know if we can Amnesty Pek next year?
Huh!?!?!?!
We can't. David Kahn wasted our one amnesty in Darko to make cap space for Brandon Roy and Batum! So we're still haunted by Mr. Kahn.
Thought I heard there was something available in 2017, but maybe it was all talk.

There are plenty of shooters available, but most are one dimensional and give up more playing crappy defense than by shooting 3s at above a 35% clip. JR Smith and Crabbe are the best of the bunch. If we don't get one of them, we shouldn't have to pay much above a minimum salary for Galloway, Novak, Rush, Budinger, Green, Foye, Ellington, Chalmers, Jimmer, Daniels and quite a few more of the same.
