One thing I like about today's media is that you can be selective about what you want to watch follow and read. That can have its own danger but the content available both good and bad is amazing compared to even 10 years ago. This is partly why you have people like Nate Duncan and Danny L. with the Dunc'd on podcast that have now living off of literally only talking about basketball. Ok sure maybe they mention something here and there (but IMO its usually light hearted or appropriately serious) 95% or more of their content is pure basketball nerdery. Its pretty fun.

While I do agree with you about more information being available... and podcasts are a great medium for this... there in non-traditional places, which shows that the behemoths of the industry are on a different path trying to reach a much larger audience with a very different message.
Basically, basketball hoop nerds have outlets... they're just harder to find...
... and we have to deal with even more idiots who are stuck getting their takes from the SI.com and ESPN.com outlets.

Thought it was hilarious today. Bill simmons tweeted about how much of a joke ESPN is because their main page had 3 "ball" stories.
Then the 1st comment was a person posting the ringer main page and 4 of the 5 stories were about the Balls.
*on a side note watch some of the Ball brother game today and man are they bad. There team is a league 1 team with grown men and they played a junior club team where everyone is 17 or younger. Lamelo, according to ESPN is a top 10 recruit in his class. Well all he did was jack and miss logo shot 3s. And for every nice pass he had he had a terrible one to match it. Also don't think he got into a defensive stance all game and walked back on defense constantly. Liangelo, plays hard but is not close to NBA talent.
Lavar better hope Lonzo has a long NBA career because he will be the only NBA player in the family

And yet ESPN paid up a boatload of money to get the draft express guys on board their platform and that's pretty much pure basketball stuff...that you have to pay for insider to get. You don't have to pay to get stuff from Woj (who I am sur they paid a bunch of money to get as well) so...maybe you are right. Remember when Jim Rome was sort of an annoying have a take guy? Dude seems super duper legit now (still think he is one of the best interviewers in the business) compared to guys who actually spew BS (being nice) out there that seem to have absolutely no soul.
This other stuff is pretty easy to access. Most people have a mobile device to do so.
I think your point basically is that sports leagues like the NFL and NBA are basically becoming content creators or content platforms for other people to jump off from. What other podcast is so interesting that has stuff you can listen to that happened last night and have a couple dudes break it down and what it could mean? idk I should probably listen to some podcast with more worthwhile relevant information to the world we live in but its easy to be drawn in. Everyone here in this forum is really more about the game and maybe some interesting dynamics that is created out of the sport. Most of us are willing or want to leave the other stuff behind. That's part of why I think many of us like this forum. Some people like alot of that other stuff. I get tired of it pretty quickly whether its sports, entertainment or everyday.

Taj isn't elite, but he is very, very solid defensively and is really efficient offensively without needing a bunch of touches. Is Griffin a downgrade defensively and then what the hell do we do on the wing, where Crawford and Bazz are big downgrades defensively from Wiggins.
Yes, Griffin is more talented than Wiggins and the trade makes sense in a vacuum, but I'd have a hard time pulling the trigger given our current roster composition.
I still have the opinion that Gorgui Dieng needs to be moved for a capable wing. That's regardless of what happens with Andrew Wiggins. The two names that I keep throwing around are Kent Bazemore and DeMarre Carroll due to their 3/D roles, positional versatility, and contract.
That would leave us with a rotation of Towns/Griffin/Gibson, which is expensive, but damn good.
To your point, other pieces would need to be shuffled around in order to keep balance.

OKC is a couple minutes away from losing to a Lillard less Blazers team. The past couple weeks they were looking like they figured it out, this past week not so much. You have to wonder if that group is just poorly matched. They're talented for sure, and that will help them win a lot of games, but they're not looking like a contender IMO.
Edit: It occurs to me, now that I've posted the above they'll have a great game tomorrow and stomp the Wolves. If so you all know who to blame.
Edit II: If they lose and I take some blame, where will I fall on the blame scale along with Thibs and Wiggins?
Edit III: Just in case anyone is OCD, I wanted to fuck with you and make sure there was not an even number of edits.

Blazers lose. Pelicans lose to Memphis. And Denver at home is trailing Atlanta in the 4th quarter -- that would be a very bad loss for Denver!
Anyway, great night for the Wolves. Some separation from the bottom 4 playoff teams is building.

With the Spurs loss to the Lakers tonight the Wolves are now just 1 game behind the Spurs for the 3rd spot in the West.
The Clippers won again tonight. They're looking like a playoff contender now with Griffin back.
The Cavs were buried by the Raptors tonight. It takes a bit of the luster off our win a few nights ago. The Cavs are in a funk. They just don't look like a team we're likely to see in the NBA finals. OKC was also struggling in the few games leading up to our match with them last night. So we soundly beat two talented teams, but both have been playing poorly of late. So we'd better not take the Knicks lightly tomorrow. We have a great opportunity now to sweep this homestand and move up in the standings.

I agree with the majority of what you said, Lip, but the Raptors beating the brakes off the Cavs shouldn't make our win look any less glamorous. Toronto's a top notch team in the East, and in the entire NBA. I believe, though I could be wrong, that Toronto is top-10 in both offense and defense. We're perhaps not there now, but we're approaching that same level. I think it's still a very good win.
