WOJ Live: Free Agency Show
Re: WOJ Live: Free Agency Show
It's a little frustrating watching some of these guys sign for pretty cheap deals. But I will assume Thayden has their list of preferred targets and what they are will to spend for those targets, so we will just have to wait and see what surfaces.

As much as I like Aldrich if we signed Jordon Hill he would probably be the 3rd best big on the team (not expecting much from KG). The Wolves don't really have a ton of good players that are bigs. Jordon Hill isn't amazing but he is a fringe starter type that can do the dirty work but also is able to score some.
I suspect this is another indication that Thibs isn't expecting anything from KG and Pek, and isn't an AP fan. If that's all true, we could use Hill for big man depth.
I like both Hill and Aldrich, but Aldrich had a much better year last year...I would expect him to be ahead of Hill on the depth chart. Much better defender, and more efficient scorer.
Bottom line is if we had both Hill and Aldrich that would be terrific regardless of which you think is better. If Hill is healthy and he is your 4th best big that's a pretty good scenario. Both guys can play C also.

Seriously, we shouldn't have to pay much for Budinger, but honestly there are 20 shooters out there with similar skill sets so I wouldn't be eager to go beyond $3 million unless they are JR Smith or Crabbe. I actually like waiting a bit to see if teams might have to dump players for capspace with the D. Wade or other signings. We might actually benefit as there aren't many teams that have our capspace.

Let's remember that the last 2 years the Wolves were able to sign Mo Williams late isn't the process for a 1 year deal for just a decent chunk of money and then last year convinced old vets (Andre and Tay) you would assume we're going to chase rings or go back to a team they played on before to come here for vet min. Let's wait.
Also a guy like Nene signing for cheap in Houston makes sense. They don't have an established C and that's a playoff team. So he could sign for cheap and either be a starter or be the first guy off the bench and maybe he would like to mentor a couple young guys like Capella (or maybe he doesn't care about that idk).

Terrific deal! He is the type of guy this team needs. This offseason has gone fantastic IMO.

I've gotten conflicting info on his defensive abilities and honestly I haven't seen much of him to formulate an opinion. How good or bad a defender is he?

1. I think the fact that the Wolves didn't try to outbid HOU for Nene is a sign that they are going with KAT/Dieng/KG/Pek/Aldrich/Payne for the post.
2. I would have much rather preferred Alan Anderson to Brandon Rush.

Why would you prefer Alan to Brandon?
