"We look at our team as primarily put together here," Falvey candidly replied when asked about a reunion with Odorizzi. "We know Jake contributed exceptionally well for us over the last few seasons, and certainly we wish him well. For us, our focus is on the players who are internally in camp at this point. We feel really good about the pitching we have already."
This confirms that Jake Odorizzi won't be returning to Minnesota. I don't necessarily like that decision, but I can understand it. That may end up being a good call if J.A. Happ can provide quality innings as a starter. If Happ flops for whatever reason and Odorizzi goes somewhere and he stays healthy, I think the Twins may regret their decision.

I was just reading the supposed price Odo is asking is 12-15 million per season for 3 years. That's kinda reasonable but as it's been pointed out before maybe he isn't actually worth that. I'm a little surprised some team hasn't taken a chance on him though. It looked like there have been some pitching injuries so maybe he won't be out of work much longer.
Having said all that the market does seem slow for some starting pitching. Maybe teams including the Twins simply had other options including less expensive ones. There is certainly some very real risk signing Odo both in terms of injury history and a little in performance. I feel pretty good about the Twins situation in terms of starting pitching at this point. They basically signed Happ and Shoemaker for less than what Odo seems to have been wanting for one year and the Twins aren't locked into those guys long term.
