What an idiot. I was wondering why this went so quiet for so long and literally no one was reporting on it after the initial report. Kinda odd that it was just swept under the rug by the likes of Jon K, etc...unless I missed something.

Yeah, ugly incident, especially given the nature of the victims. I can honestly say that I was that teenage kid at one point. I used to go on the Parade of Homes tour with my parents too!

Often when you read about these things, it involves some conflict within the player's network of connections, like over a card game gone bad, money issues, gambling, a girl, etc. But this poor family was doing just the most benign Minnesota suburban-ish thing possible!

I hate judging a player's character based on singular incidents. Our existing culture too easily "cancels" people based on wrongs past or present without regards to context and their entire body of work as a professional and citizen. If this is an isolated incident with Malik, then hopefully he learns from it and moves on. If it's part of a broader issue that the Wolves are aware of with other past concerns not reported publicly, then hopefully they do indeed move on from him.

It would be nice to see the league step in and suspend him.

Well, he also had the stupid hotel or apartment complex brawl with an NFL player over his cheating lady last year or the year before.

You're a rich athlete, and a target Malik. If I find out my wife is cheating on me, I confront her alone and move on accordingly. He shouldn't get his face posted everywhere, fight with another grown man, and then come out shortly after and point a gun at a family.

So I remember when this story first came out it seems like there was some incident that happened previously and the cops were called earlier. It seems like there has to be a little more to the story or why would Beasley do this? That doesn't exactly make this better but it doesn't seem like there is more to the story.

The fight on TMZ...it's not a good look but I'm probably not going to get TOO concerned about it.

Having said all that at this point the price I'd spend for Beasley has dropped significantly. We are now at a point of looking at him as a guy we might be taking a bit of a chance on for multiple reasons not just whether or not he is talented or can ever play some D. Now we have to wonder if he is kind of a dumbass. I think my max a year is now 8 million and honesty I might not even go that high...no pun intended. He will probably get suspended and if it's for any decent length of time more than a couple games that decreases his on court value and unlike other leagues I don't think teams get salary cap relief for that so you have to sort of take a penalty for that guy even if he did something stupid. I also have to question if he could be a piece of this team going forward. I also have to question if I want him around this group. Am I wildly concerned? Idk but there is some concern. If Beasley is talented and gets himself right enough not to be a problem and the Wolves can get him signed to a bargain contract it could be lucky. The Qualifying offer for Beasley is less than 4 million so idk if he is gonna he willing to play for that. If I remember right you can't sign a RFA for just 1 year it needs to be 2 years. The Wolves can squeeze the guy while also being support once or whatever. It will be interesting how this plays out. Many people that have seen Beasley play more than we have suggest he would be a good 6th man scorer off the bench. Maybe the Wolves will get to pay him like that. Will some other team jump in to sign him for a low price using part of the mid-level and then the Wolves match? I can't imagine a team willing to give up a reasonable draft pick to get him but I guess you never know.
