What a shitshow of a franchise.
Right? We just cant have nice things.
I go back to Taylor. Man, that guy SUCKS at hiring on the basketball side. Fucking do your homework and don't just rely on references from other owners/POBOs. If Rosas created a toxic work environment, then surely there were signs of this in his prior stint. The basketball world is a small one and there are ways to find this stuff out. He didn't suddenly turn into an unethical jerk after coming to Minnesota.
Absolutely right, Q! Obviously, I wasn't privy to that sort of intel about Gersson's past. But I remember seeing a red flag in what happened with Gersson when he went to Dallas as the Mavs' new PBO, but they abruptly and mysteriously left for reasons that didn't add up. That was one reason I was troubled by Glen's decision to hire him.

Its tough to say. He was a religious guy in a moral dilemma. This was his first stint as the boss, maybe everything finally went to his head. You wont get any argument from me about Glen's ineptitude, but remember when everyone thought Tiger was a perfect family guy until he wasnt?

Remember, Dallas was found to have a 20-year history of shadiness just a couple of years ago... coincidence... dunno.

First of all the source for this WCCO info is Mike Max is he legit? I'm asking because ai have no idea.
2nd there were rumblings of the culture stuff but until today Rosas was doing his thing as the GM of this franchise. I'm not saying everything was great (no organization is perfect) but that clearly wasn't enough to fire him but it also makes sense to say there were some other issues.
If it's true Rosas cheated on his wife...that's sad for his family. The persona Rosas put forth I would fire him immediately. That action is directly against pretty much everything he said he stood for as an executive and as a person. I don't want that guy leading my billion dollar organization...or quite frankly one that is worth much less than that. He betrayed a lot of trust if this is true. That's HUGE.
If that is indeed the reason why Gersson Rosas was dismissed, and it certainly appears so now, then I will commend Glen Taylor, Marc Lore, and Alex Rodriguez for moving swiftly in their decision to remove him from the organization. That's completely unacceptable behavior and unbecoming of your lead executive.
My hope is that the ownership trio will conduct a thorough and advanced search for Rosas' replacement as President of Basketball Operations without restricting Sachin Gupta's abilities in the interim. I'm quite high on Gupta and think he should be a leading candidate for the position given his experiences and acumen. Not to mention, there's still a three-time All-Star and former All-NBA player available on the trade market that still makes sense for this franchise to acquire. Let Gupta continue those negotiations and see if he can make his first big splash. Anything he may agree to still has to be signed off by ownership anyways.
Here's a question, though. Who is a name out there that would be more deserving of the POBO position permanently than Gupta? Are there any names that come to mind? I would suggest Mike Zarren, Trajan Langdon, and Shane Battier, but I think Gupta's equally qualified.

I see your point, Doper. But this is materially different from Tiger's situation. In Tiger's case, he cheated on his wife. Yes, I was surprised by that. But Gersson's conduct extends beyond infidelity to management misconduct, including creation of a toxic work environment. Rosas was in an upper management position for a long time in Houston - for much of that time as Morey's #2. It's highly unlikely that Gersson's character never manifested itself in all those years as Houston's #2 and suddenly appeared two years into his tenure as Minnesota's #1. It's one thing to be unfaithful. It's another thing to be an abusive boss. The former happens in secret and can remain undetected forever unless you're a celebrity like Tiger. The latter happens in plain view because, but definition, it's about the impact of your conduct on others.

Glen isn't a regular spectator like us. He actually has the means to hire a firm that can do a very thorough background check. I just can't believe that there weren't some prior issues.
As for Tiger, when you say "everyone", do you mean regular spectators and fans like us or people in positions of power within the PGA Tour? I'm pretty sure a lot of those folks knew of Tiger's sins. But he also single-handedly raked in hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars for the Tour, tour players, networks, golf media, and the entire golf industry. It was in no one's interest to blow the door open on his issues.

I really like Battier. Don't know much about Zarren but Langdon is often mentioned as an up and comer.

Well said, Cam. Our owners should be commended for moving swiftly to terminate Rosas given what has now been reported.
I share your high regard for Gupta. I don't know anything about Zarren and I know very little about Langdon beyond his playing days. I'm intrigued by the possibility of Shane Battier. He's always struck me as a really smart guy. But I can't think of anyone who I would consider a better candidate than Gupta.
