You don't need to tell me. I wanted Monroe instead of Wesley Johnson.

Rumors I like the trade if we are not giving up picks or Lottery protected picks.

The big difference here, which you sort of acknowledge, is the "Games Started" stat. Monroe is a $17M per year bench big - and that's on a contract signed in the last CBA! He is definitely doing a great job for Milwaukee, but the results on defense were much worse when he was starting for them last year.

Detroit has only gotten better defensively since Monroe left (they moved up nicely last year, their first without him, and now they are #1 in the league). Now Milwaukee has moved up nicely since he was replaced as a starter.

Given the fact defense is our #1 problem and he wouldn't exactly be surrounded by a bunch of mature defensive types in Minnesota, I don't trust that he'd help us on that end any more than Aldrich or Dieng.

The rumored deal was a silly then as it is now. The Wolves can't trade their 2018 1st round pick because it's already been traded for Payne. The article itself points out the other absurdities of the purported deal. There's no shortage of people just making stuff up.

We're not going to get anything meaningful for Ricky at this point. And Dunn isn't close to being ready to replace him. Hard to imagine the Wolves being worse this season since we now have the 2nd worst record in the League. But replace Ricky with Dunn and we would, indeed, be worse. Maybe we can deal Ricky with our lottery pick next summer and get a meaningful return that would actually improve the team. That's our only hope, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think the Magic make that deal, but I probably would and re-sign him this summer. It'd be similar to the Heat trading for Dragic a couple seasons ago.

* I think the Magic could get a couple first round picks for Ibaka near the deadline, but after seeing what they traded Tobias Harris for... You never really know what they'll do.
