Rubio's jumper just didn't look like a guy that was a scorer for years early in his career. I watched a few highlights of Stanley Johnsons's Rookie year and the few jumpers in there (mostly was dunks) looked fine but that's not enough to go on. Kris Dunn has kind of a weird jumper and he is not terrible now and a better FT shooter. When you watch Okogie shoot the ball it looks like a guy that should make it. You know who air balls some bad shots? James Harden. If you take some shots you are gonna miss bad at times. OBVIOUSLY Okogie has more bad shots than Harden but regardless I think there is legit reason to hope for the guy to actually be a pretty good player including his shooting. I'm personally just enjoying a lot of the good stuff. We don't even know for sure if he is gonna be a good great defender. If he is some of this other stuff is just how good he will be buthe is gonna play plenty.

On the last Jon K podcast he said a couple interesting things. First he said the Wolves organization said regardless of who is coaching and the GM they want to be a player friendly and especially player development focused. YAY!!!!!!!!!! It seems weird to hear that when you don't really have a person in charge of basketball but my guess is that there are people in the organization that aren't going anywhere that see that as the vision they should take. Makes sense. Jon K said he also asked around to see if anyone would be interested in the job if they had to keep Ryan Saunders and he said he was surprised at the feedback that if Ryan showed some worthwhile ability the rest of the season candidates would be fine with taking the job with Ryan as coach. Maybe they are just saying it now but it was interesting.

With all the times this franchise has been burned I wonder why anyone would want to put much stock in an inconsistent rookie. Tyus is already facing his second contract and I'm still not sure he's worth re-signing. I'm going to need to see a lot more minutes before I'm sure of anything about Okogie beyond his inconsistency.

Personally I'm not paying Tyus unless it's an extreme hometown discount, he's a backup that probably gets exposed come playoff time. While I like his knack for steals and true PG play he doesn't move the needle enough for me to prioritize keeping him.

Jon K said Tyus missing these games probably helps that price plus Thibs not being around helps Tyus wanting to be here. I'd be pretty surprised if Tyus got some sort of big offer. There is gonna be a bunch of PGs available to teams. Tyus May be a guy with some youth and...theoretical potential but who is gonna want to put up an offer the awokves wouldn't match. What is the going rate for good backup PGs with some potential to at least be a decent starter? He ain't getting Fred Van Vliett money. The Wolves are I'm a good spot to keep him and for a good contract unless he just completely sucks which seems unlikely.

This is both the real interesting thing and also the frustrating thing about pro sports. It's not about the player's value of what he does in between the lines but it's often so much about the money. It gets old sometimes. It's a fact of life but it does get old. Some guys that aren't bad players are basically dumped on just because they are getting paid a ton too much. One bad contract can almost break you. Saric is the other guy to be concerned with. They could pay him this summer with an extension. What would be an appropriate amount or obviously they could just wait things out but even ten what turns out to be the right number? It will be interesting to see if the Nets are able to get these types of things right. Of they don't they could end up stuck in some level of mediocrity...although that sounds kinda good compared to some places they have been.

J.R. Smith and Kemba Walker. Billups and Stojakovic as well. Both had some success behind 3-point line but were bad overall.

This used to be a board where a bunch of smart guys shared opinions, but while most of the guys here continue to be good guys and respectful, it seems like it is slowly moving more toward a board a guy like Duke would prefer...you know, little personal digs rather than the sports opinions most of us prefer. My gal recently asked me why I spend so much time reviewing this board, and maybe I should thank Duke for showing me that she's right. He makes this board a lot less enjoyable. I can certainly find more worthwhile things to do with my time. Best of luck to the many good guys on this board...maybe my final post will help Duke with his personality issues.

LST, please don't leave this board. I remember one summer when both you and Cam were not here and it really decreased the quality and volume of disscussion.
