Can you tell me an example of a playoff contender that flips a rotation piece for a future assets during the season. You say smart teams do this but I can't think of any examples
Duke also you state that it makes sence to trade him before he gets a pay increase, yet he is under contract next season at a very comfortable $3,573,204 from what I can find on a quick google search
Tyus will be a restricted FA and the 3.5 mil number is just the qualifying offer. I have no idea what kind of number Tyus will get next off-season, and whether the Wolves would be willing to match it.

And I must say I was very impressed with Max-Wiggins last night. Sure hope that continues!
Okay ya that makes sense thanks for clearing that up for me.
As far as Jared Bayless goes I'd have to see him in action with the team. A quick glance at his stats show his career assist to tourover numbers are about half of Tyus career numbers and tyus is still growing.
I do like his size and ability to put the ball in the hole though.
If Tyus isn't in our longterm plans and Bayless can fill his role then ya it would make sence to explore options
Teague's defense was very good tonight AND he had 2 massive blocks. People just rip on the guy for Dribbling if he dribbles a ton. There are times he actually creates stuff when he dribbles. He is still maddening at times how he doesn't shoot but he I thought he was the right guy to finish out that game. The Wolves didn't need scoring they really put the hammer down with Wiggins back in there for Rose.
The idea we should trade any of Rose Teague or Tyus is a bad one unless you are getting some team giving up a 1st round pick for them which isn't gonna happen...even if it didn't then leaves you down a good player and an injury away from playing someone that might really suck. The way the Wolves are playing right now Tyus doesn't need to score much. I'd like to see him and Saric do more together. It reminds me of the idea of Pek/Love playing with a guy like Rubio. Smart Uber high IQ guys that know how to play can be pretty fun.
People are gonna laugh but this team IF this defense we are playing real is a low key go a ways in the playoffs sorta contender like Philly was last year. No reason to try and get assets for some guy on a team that you know might actually be pretty damn good. We won 47 games this year. If this team is anywhere near the thing we have seen since the trade 50 wins isn't ridiculous. That would be a hell of a season. I can see flipping Tolliver for an asset (2nd rounder) but not one of the ball handling guards.
It's a fair question about history of trades. I'm not gonna take the time to do any research. But my larger point is, I'm not overvaluing Tyus' role on the team, and Gorgui for that matter due to his recent improved play in very limited minutes. This team is far from a lock to make the playoffs. It's no secret I think Okogie needs to play, trading either, more realistically Tyus would open up minutes for Okogie. Neither Tyus or Gorgui should be in a playoff rotation, Okogie due to his defensive versitity has the ability to do play in a playoff series. And it's my opinion he would help this team more right now, then either of those two.
And yes, Tyus will get a raise next years as an RF.

Let me know what time the flight leaves!
If you trade dieng now you can't replace his depth on the team this year. That's my only issue with it at the moment. I realize how bad his contract is but I'd like to win some games this year.
Ha plus I want to win my bet and get the 6th seed or better lol

He has been pretty impressive as a smart defender as a Wolf. I'm glad we got him in that trade and again we have him and Taj at PF plus Tolliver. We are now like living in luxury here at that spot or something.

Rose gets hurt who is your backup PG?
I guess this scenario presumes Bayless is eventually healthy.
I'm also not sure Tyus will be all that expensive next year given his lackluster year so far. He has had a real struggle making shots. Disappointing to me as I really thought he was on a strong trajectory and would take another step this year.

I do agree, monster -- it is risky tinkering with something working so well. But you can't turn a blind eye to the future, either. Do the Wolves have the cap flexibility to keep both Rose and Tyus next offseason?
The Wolves have some interesting circumstances that could influence a decision to trade Tyus. Bayless will likely be available to play soon, so there is PG depth to absorb losing Tyus. And more interestingly, we have Okogie who clearly has a future on this team, but cannot get on the floor because of our backcourt depth.
Yeah, I would be surprised if the Wolves made a move when the team is showing such promise right now. But you know these ideas must be discussed among the Wolves brass when they turn their eyes to the future.
