His contract is expired and roster spot available. I think Thibs would much rather have a vet minimum type big fill that slot or a promising 2nd rounder.

What Payne has shown me is that he could someday become a poor man's Anthony Randolph.

Well...right now we don't have a 2nd rounder but I don't disagree with you on your points. To me what payne COULD provide is something in the middle of those 2 options. A young player with a little promise (of being a somewhat useful 10th/11th man energy guy) and a vet player that has already reached whatever level they have and maybe declining. I think it's plenty easy to conclude they didn't have a lot of interest in bringing him back and...I have belabored my point but like I said it SEEMED like to me there was some actual interest in keeping him around long term. If there wasn't why not cut the guy and bring in someone else? Obviously he isn't a priority and likely is easily replaceable but the good teams find solid players to help them and I still say the cp to house roster turnover doesn't help build. Keep some guys around if there isn't an obvious improvement. Just as an example let's say the Wolves take Zach Collins in the draft and sign Patrick Patterson then bringing back Payne would make little sense. It will work itself out I just happen to see a bit of value in bringing him back and also think the Wolves do have some level of interest in bringing him back. That's all. We don't have to talk about him again till July. :) Remember all those fun talks on this board about who you would rather have between Payne and Bennett? Good times those were. Lol

We could find room for Payne on our new D-League team.

Point taken. If only Payne had that level of talent. Really both guys it mostly seems like whatever they have going for them talent and physically it's mental. Randolph turns 28 in July! That guy...I swear he must have some dude just following him around with a boom box playing "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart.
