Yeah, I don't get it. And then he sat KAT, but left Wiggins in until there was barely over a minute left. That was dumb.
I think he wanted to make sure they won the game and finished it pretty strong. At one point they were only up like 22 or something. 10 games from now they probably can empty the bench earlier but I don't think they can do that right now.
I get that, but when we're up 20+ with less than 5 minutes, it's time to take them out. The Sixers weren't going to make that gap up.
Maybe not but there was little run where Dunn had like 2 turnovers I was like "better not empty the bench yet Thibs." It sucks they had to keep those guys in but I think they kinda did IMHO. I don't think an extra few minutes is gonna be a big deal right now but winning by over 20 instead of 15 might be worth something mentally oddly.

Not just you, he looks like a net positive so far this season. He'll probably sign a $10M a year contract next season! LOL
Is he a max player too? I was rubbing my eyes just to make sure that last dunk.
I don't know....he was still a little out of control at times too. One of his baskets was totally lucky. I think he got four fouls in 15 minutes of play. Then he threw Embiid to the ground and drew a technical. He did block a few shots I guess.
He may also be a "Thibs guy" in that he plays with energy and edge. The problem is he is just as likely to hurt one of his own team mates!
Yeah don't get me wrong I was judging by Payne standards. But he has made strides. Eventually I think there are positive contributions he can make. He played some solid D on a few possessions.
IDK....tough to take much away from this game. The Sixers are really bad. In fact, it's almost embarrassing that with our roster we have only won one more game than the Sixers coming into tonight. Really!?
Perhaps Payne will turn a corner this year, but it seems pretty inconsequential to our future. He's a UFA after this season, no?
I was asking because he was playing against big guys both Okafor and Embiid are big strong dude and Payne hasn't exactly done well against those guys in the past.
He is an UFA since they declined his option. They will still have his bird rights though! :) Here is one way to look at it. If he ends up being good enough to get paid by another team that's money that another guy the Wolves want might be able to get. If he keeps playing like he has (which is a big IF) I might like to keep him around for a cheap deal. To compare though Anthony Tolliver got 8 million per from the Kings last summer!!!

I was at the game tonight as well, I was thinking the same thing with the starters then looked at the clock with 5 minutes roughly and they were up by 20 I thought they better keep the starters in just in case. He really rode the starters long in the 3rd, wasn't taking any chances. Their offense just slows do in the 3rd, thought it did tonight as well. A lot of 1-2 pass possessions and 1:1 basketball.
Wiggins was great tonight, especially on the boards!

Yeah, pretty good for three games now...and as someone else says later in this thread, his playing well at PF allows Belly to go to SF and Wig to SG. I always thought Payne had the potential to be a very good shot blocker with his length, athleticism and motor, but he never was in college. He seems to be figuring out the defensive end a little...nice to see the three blocks tonight.

Did anyone miss Bazz the last 3 games?

Um, not at all. I really want Bazz to be good because he's such a hard-working good guy...and a prolific scorer at times. But this team has enough scorers, and needs to surround them with role players willing to move the ball, hit the defensive boards, and play good defense...and none of those things describes Bazz. I look for the wolves to try to move him at the deadline.

No but that's credit to Belly and Payne. My guess is that generally speaking when Bazz comes back Payne will go back to the bench much like when Rubio came back Tyus didn't play much but Thibs has used him here and there. It's nice to have options. Payne may have played and obviously practiced himself into being a guy they will give an opportunity to. With Dieng playing the big centers and therefore getting into foul trouble Payne may have chances here or there to get a few minutes.

Enjoyable but anticlimactic game tonight. Even the cherry berry was decided quickly. Wiggins dominated and Kat found his lane tonight--finally he got back to posting up.
It was a small crowd that never got very into the game, but never needed to because it was over quick. The Sixers really suck.
The new scoreboard is pretty awesome. Thibs yelled plenty but I think the blowout even took a little energy out of him.
So a good win, but now the question is will it carry over to Memphis? Might not matter, the Grizz are playing well.

Something to consider that the Wolves have the lowest scoring bench in the league at 24ppg.

Wiggins. Wow.
Towns over Embiid.
Give the kids a few minutes off, Thibs. 38 is way too much in THAT game.
Rubio didn't play well. Dunn played... like usual. But with Wiggins rolling... it's kind of refreshing that the team still excels offensively.
PHILADELPHIA IS TERRIBLE. AGAIN. WOW.
