I don't think that'd be enough for this version of Lou Williams, but I could be wrong.

Add a pick

So you want to give up Patton and a 1st round pick for what could be 2 rentals in Teo and Lou and then likely have to pay Wes Johnson 6 million per next season? No thanks.

I didn't say a first round pick, and we would need to be able to sign Williams for the deal to make sense. It would be a great deal for us.

Like Cam said I don't think that's gonna be enough to get Lou. A 2nd rounder from us isn't gonna move the needle much.

What do you think it would take to get Lou?

I'd be reluctant to make a major deal now. I like our team balance and chemistry. I wouldn't give up any 1st round picks. If we could swap Gorgui straight up for Bazemore, I'd do it. But I don't see that happening. Let's see who we can pick up as a FA. Or let's see if Anthony Brown can step in and contribute. I like what's we've seen from MGH so far. I'm content to move ahead this season with the team we have and use the MLE next summer to upgrade the roster.

I agree, I don't think I move Patton or the 1st in a deal this year.

I really think Gorgui Dieng is the odd man out. If not during the season, perhaps in the summer. He's just not playing at a level, or a role, that is worth his salary. Comparative bigs can be found for much less and that money could be better used on a 3P-shooting bench wing, which is in my mind the biggest need on the team.

Really unfortunate. In theory, Dieng was always supposed to be a great backup C/PF. So we finally get him in a position where he doesn't have to start and he's been just "meh" at best. Disappointing. Even if he had continued to cultivate that corner 3 we saw late last year, that would have been just huge. But nope.....

I agree, Cam. As you know, I've always liked Gorgui. But in the scheme of things, he seems to be the guy it would make the most sense to trade. I think we'll get better value for him in the summer than we would dealing him by this season's trade deadline.

My only caution would be the situation we'll be facing the season after next. Taj's contract will have expired and he'll be 34 years old. We shouldn't underestimate Gibson's contribution as our starting PF and there aren't a lot of bigs who can give us anything close to what we get from Taj. Gorgui is a guy who can fill that role without a significant drop off. His problem this season has been his difficulty adjusting to his new bench role. As a starter he was very solid, doing a lot of what Taj does -- being in the right place at the right time, drawing charges, hitting open twos, rebounding, being durable, etc. We just don't know yet what we have in Patton and I'm skeptical of Amile Jefferson because I have doubts about the level of competition in the GLeague. What are your thoughts on my concern?

Oh he is cultivating it getting up the shots they just aren't going in a high enough rate yet. He has taken 44 3's this year in nearly 900 minutes. Last year he took 43 the entire season in over 2600 minutes. The last 2 months he has hit a 3rd of them so it's not exactly a lost cause there yet. Also his per minute numbers are in line with his career numbers and quite a few stats are actually better than last year.

Is he the odd man out? Yes I think so. That's not hard to figure out. The part that's a bit tougher is figuring out how to move him in a deal that makes sense. This summer maybe.

Like I've said in other posts at least he can play and for a team that just needed a competent center to not suck he would probably help because he has some versatility to his game even though it's kinda odd. One team that could use him is the Bucks and you never know what team could miss out on having a center this summer and would trade different overpaid guys to take on Dieng. There are always a couple teams that will see a solid player as an asset for them even if they maybe shouldn't like the Kings and for many years it was the Bucks.

He's not a starting caliber 4 or 5 on a good team. Even if he were playing a bit better. You couldn't play him against the better teams in the league who play smaller lineups.

I offer up Teague and Dieng to Cleveland for Thompson and either crowder, shumpert or frye. We can get by with Tyus and brooks, and it gives us a better fit with Thompson, while also unloading Gorgui and Teague's deals.

I think we're missing the boat here. I feel like now IS the time to make a major deal. Butler is in his prime and Taj is about to leave his. We are going to have at least two more chances to build around Wig and KAT after this current roster moves on. I don't see any reason we shouldn't be in win now mode. We have a guy on the roster who has a lot of value in Teague, and we have a guy behind him who will be a better option soon, if he isn't already. I think we should capitalize on that depth and get some badly needed shooting on this roster. If we could improve our team by adding another weapon, we become a very dangerous team. The Warriors are just one injury away from coming back to the pack.
