Re: Best Potential Love Trades
I think Wiggins can play SG. He might be better there.
Re: Best Potential Love Trades
If Flip has eyes for Parsons, I would hope he isn't waiting around because this is a delicate situation. I doubt he is going to pass up big offers to wait on Flip and teams aren't going to wait on Chandler either. Hopefully Melo chooses very soon so Flip can this ball rolling.
Re: Best Potential Love Trades
I agree, Phenom. Flip puts a premium on patience, but at some point he has to understand the imperative to act before opportunities and leverage evaporate.
Right now, I'm guessing Flip's waiting for the Melo and LeBron situations to get resolved because the teams that lose out on their pursuit of those two will likely turn their pursuit pretty aggressively towards Kevin Love. Melo is really the key because the teams vying for him are already reported to have a strong interest in Love -- i.e, Chicago and Houston. Best case scenario, Melo stays in New York, in which case Chicago and Houston will join Golden State and Phoenix in hot pursuit of a deal for Love. Four teams in hot pursuit of a deal for Love, would give Flip tremendous leverage.
As one of four teams that want Love, the Warriors would have to stop dicking around. Obviously Klay would have to be included in any deal and I think they'd have to take Martin's contract and include Draymond Green in the deal along with Klay and David Lee. Houston would have to include Parsons, Terrence Jones and a future pick (maybe Lin who I think would be a great acquisition for us). Chicago would have to stop the nonsense about not giving up Taj Gibson. They have to include him along with McDermott and the rights to Mirotic. I also think they'd have to include Jimmy Butler. They could have their pick of Martin, Bujdinger, and/or Barea.
But the one rub in all this is that teams may not wait. They may proceed with other deals that deprive them of the assets we'd want in a trade or put them in a cap situation that would make it difficult to do a deal for Love. So you're right Phenom -- it's in the Wolves interest to get the Melo thing resolved very soon.

GS beat writer Tim Kawakami writes that GS is still not including Klay in the offer, staying with Barnes, lee and a pick. I think this is a good indication of the kind of crap offers Flip has been fielding to date. Love is in demand, but no team is desperate enough yet to offer anything real. Good for Flip to not panic and take deals like this. I agree that once the James/melo musical chairs game is over, the offers may start to get more realistic.

I don't know if I buy that GS is not offering Klay. I tend to believe Chad Ford/Doogie/AP guy on this one. I can't see Flip entertaining an offer without Klay more than once. No one seems to be saying that the two teams aren't talking anymore, so that leads me to believe that Klay is in the offer. Otherwise, why would Flip give them the time of day?
Re: Best Potential Love Trades
It is in GS' best interests to limit their offer in the press so other teams don't up theirs as well. Flip would have to be a blithering idiot (jury is still out on this one!) to even consider a deal taking on Lee without THompson. I have watched the trade boards and deals takng Lee with Barnes returns a bunch of crap. Lee is considered a negative value at this point, and Barnes doesn't make up for that. If I was Flip I would start leaking that we won't take Lee back in the deal.
Considering that Love and his agent have sandbagged some deals by refusing any chance at a re-sign, I think I might cut off all negotiations with his preferred teams for a while.

It's been said that Cleveland sees him playing SG for them. They also are/were going after Gordon Hayward who would be locked in as their SF for years to come. They wanted Lebron from day 1, but when unable to obtain a meeting they decided to target Hayward who was their #2 target.

Agreed. I'm still not really buying it. We've heard "sources" on both sides of that. Some say Klay is on the table, some say he's not. It's all smoke & posturing.

Who knows what's true with the rumors out there. I don't know much about kawagami, but as the GS beat writer, it would be sad if he had less information than Doogie about GS.
