Thibs PBO grade- C-

Thibs coach grade- D-

Trying to be realistic. It could be worse, but not much.

Did you follow the Wolves during the David Kahn era?

Sure, Khans is an F.

So a C- is quite fair. You can like the players we have, but until they translate into a winner I am not going B. To get an A you better be a title contender. That should be the goal.

In general I think you can get an A as a PBO without being a title contender depending on what you took over. IMO Sean Marks for the Nets should have no less than a B+ for what he has done there and they arent a title contender. Meanwhile an F grade might be too kind Kahn (F- - could be an option lol) and I tend to give him some benefit of the doubt at times.

Sure I suppose if you had bad luck with injuries and mid round picks throughout your tenure. Always making the playoffs but getting knocked out in the first round. Stuck in no mans land. Meh, I would still be hard pressed to give an A though. You can always make trades, hire or help hire the right coach. It depends how long we are talking too.

Considering Thibs has had player and coaching control for three years with two very talented overall number 1 picks entering their prime. I almost feel I am too generous giving "passing" grades. He's clearly been crap in both positions.

Slight quibble there...

Andrew Wiggins has NEVER played at even a replacement player level in his 5-year career.

Not for Flip Saunders. Not for Sam Mitchell. And not for Tom Thibodeau. For his career... he is at a -1.4 VORP. What does that really mean?

Even a random vagabond like DJ Augustin has a positive VORP for his career at +1.7. Hence, teams figure "well, DJ is not great, but at least he's probably slightly better than average."

Other career VORP (and Win Shares) for recent #1 picks:

2010: John Wall - 22.1 (44.2 WS)
2011: Irving -- 22.6 (53.9 WS)
2012: Davis -- 25.6 (68.3 WS)
2013: Anthony Bennett -- -1.7 (0.5 WS)
2014: Andrew Wiggins -- -1.4 (12.8 WS)
2015: KAT -- 15.6 (38.3 WS)
2016: Ben Simmons -- 6.6 (13.4 WS)
2017: Fultz -- -0.2 (0.6 WS)
2018: Ayton -- 1.0 (3.3 WS)

But hey... Wiggins has already proven to be better than Anthony Bennett and Markelle Fultz as he enters his prime. My point is that Wiggins should NEVER be put in the same category as KAT. Even though KAT needs work too... putting him and Wiggins on the same level is a huge insult to KAT. Every single statistic proves it.

Abe - I agree for the most part. My comparison was they were back to back 1st overall picks. Wiggins at least showed potential at some point. unlike Bennett or Fultz. I was only saying he was very talented. KAT is far more determined mentally to be an All Star player. Wiggins won't even dunk anymore that he got his big payday. He is soft mentally and has the hustle of a Grandma.

Could a great coach get him to be a solid player at least? Maybe. We know what he is now.

Does Glen have any self awareness? I kind of admire the guy for never being embarrassed if he actually is self aware and just doesn't give a shit.

The irony is that the Lynx side of things (also owned by Taylor) is a model franchise and rock of stability.
