Durant to Golden State

My least favorite part about this is that it further reiterates this as the model for players. OKC was really close to a championship but the model is to load up one roster put the odds in your favor. It's stupid. I don't even know why players would want that. This truly is a different generation.

Apparently my theory about Durant going to GS out of concern about Westbrook leaving and his desire for a longer term contract was wrong. Only a 2-year deal with the Warriors? Then it clearly wasn't what I thought. Probably more the coward thing. He wanted to maximize his chances of winning a title and going to GS will do that. And yes, I think it's fair to call him a coward in the basketball sense although I'd just say he's taking the easier more certain route. This is worse than LeBron going to Miami because Durant is leaving a title contender with a lot of talent around him. When LeBron left Cleveland he was all they had so he had to carry the entire burden.

I don't like this super team thing. It worked to a point in Miami, but not as well as LeBron and many others thought it would. I hope it fails completely with Golden State. But this might be good for the Wolves short term because it knocks the Thunder down several pegs. Long term I hope this doesn't entourage any of our young guys to eventually leave to join a super team.

Stop calling him a coward. He wasn't scared of GS if he didn't go there and stayed home. He damn near beat them last year. You aren't a coward just because you leave your team to join the team that beat you. He took a once in a lifetime opportunity with the way the Warriors cap is setup combined with the cap jump to join 3 other great players. That doesn't make the man a coward. This is basketball people. Get over it and stop attacking athletes. That's worse for the game than Durant going to OKC.

Because you guys are calling him a coward for making a decision that took a lot of courage to make which happens to be the opposite of a coward. Courage is a pretty strong word to use for a guy about to make 27 million on a ready made championship caliber team.

The guy has 29 NBA fan bases going after him in the second most popular sport in the US. He's gonna get ridiculed by experts worse than Lebron did with the decision because he just joined the team he lost to in the WCF. That's a lot of hate to deal with when you just play basketball for a living.

I really don't think players care all that much about what fans think. They have money in the bank, beautiful women, nice cars,homes etc..

I don't see how this can't influence younger players. The two most iconic players of that generation of talent have gone this route now. Our stars were in high school when Lebron made the decision, now if KD wins a title and further creates endorsement opportunities they have to be watching.

Depending on how much faith you have in Chris Brussard, a call from Jerry West closed the deal. He told KD he will never reach his potential in OKC. He will be a lot more efficient in GS, and he will win championships.

I'm disappointed in him deciding to leave, but way more so with his destination. The Superteam era continues. I previously liked the Warriors because like OKC they built their team through young assets including draft picks.

Understood, I totally understand why folks like the Warriors. They lost me last season with Draymond Green's antics and Joe Lacob's arrogant "Silicon Valley is smarter than everyone else" persona.

No they can't have any injuries. This will hopefully go all wrong. Somehow I think it will work out fine for them though. San Francisco is becoming one of the worst cities on earth, this is not helping their case.
