To me there is a bit of an overreaction to the 3 point shot. To me the problem with OKC wasn't just the 3 point differential it was the lack of making shots and running good offense. OKC could add a solid vet that shoots the 3 well like a Jared Dudley type and smooth out that offense to something that starts before the shot clock is at 12-14 seconds move the ball and tone down the turnovers and... That's all easier said than done but I don't buy that they simply can't win unless they add a good 3 point shooter. It sure would help but Adams is gonna be a problem for teams to handle as time goes on.

But your solution involves.....getting a better 3-point shooter. I do agree that OKC is awfully reliant on Westbrook and Durant iso-ball. Heck, they had Waiters as their backup PG. Now that's kinda desperate. It's a testament to Donovan and their two stars that they got as far as they did. In many other years, they would have won the title.

I didn't state my case that well but my thought was they need to improve their offense and hit the shots they make and that's a bigger source of improvement than just getting a better 3 point shooter. They need to get the best out of their best players on another level. Something else to consider is Roberson has some possibility of being part of the solution. He is 24 and his 3 point shooting has improved every year in the league. If he is able to knock down 3's at say 35% next year that would be pretty big. The guy is a beast in a lot of other areas. OKC really does have some nice young talent around Durant and Westbrook. I hope this franchise can keep getting worthwhile players in the draft like OKC has been able to.

Edit:

I guess my position is more that OKC doesn't have to panic they can try and add another piece but I think they can stick with a more natural progression of improving from within both in how their players play and also coaching. Donovan was a rookie head coach and his staff was in flux a lot of the year. Maybe they could move lesser big to help with their perimeter shooting. I don't think it's something where is they don't add a Kyle Korver then they can never win a championship. Like I said maybe try add a little tweak like a Jared Dudley or something like that to help out.

Well now there is talk of Durant going to Boston as part of a superteam. http://www.yardbarker.com/nba/articles/report_kevin_durant_gave_celtics_list_of_players_they_need_to_sign/s1_127_21013795

This is amazing to me

Did you look at volume too?

Yeah, those guys have obviously just kept getting better, but Curry was a high volume flame thrower at Davidson and the sole focus of opposing defenses.

Understood. They beat San Antonio, which was a historically great defense heading into the playoffs, then took Golden State to 7 games, so the team as it is constructed today is really damn good. A tweak here or there is all they probably need. Unfortunately, there is this Durant issue.....

Yes! Pleeeeaaase construct another super-friends team in the Eastern Conference and balance things out for once! I'd love nothing more than for Durant to head to Boston.

(although, there is a little part of me that feels bad for the city of OKC. But they've had a pretty damn good run overall).

It hasn't even been a day yet and I am already tired of the Durant FA talk. After the run they had I think he stays in OKC (and that's what I want to see regardless of competitive factors) but who knows I guess.

Financially, it seems to make much more sense. And basketball-wise... the same.

I don't see why it won't happen. But the NBA is following the NFL's lead and wants 24/7 news cycles... so expect it to continue.
