Personally I think the trade is done except for the actual submission to the league office. The addition of Wiggins and Lavine is going to bring a lot of excitement and anticipation for the next season. So I think you should all quit nitpicking Wiggins' game, and realize he is our guy and get excited about it. Flip is knocking it out of the park this summer. Who would have believed that we could be more excited about 2014-15, than we were about 2013-14? I know I will be.

Guys, what is the problem with this thread? That some people aren't as optimistic about Wiggins as you are? Or as excited about a trade that hasn't happened yet? People have different viewpoints. If you disagree with somebody else's thoughts, it doesn't make theirs "rhetoric." If you want a board where nobody disagrees, that would be a pretty boring board.

Besides, this isn't some hyper-anti-Wiggins diatribe. I'm just trying to describe what I think are key issues that I think make it less likely he'll be a superstar. Some smart, thoughtful posters here seem to lean toward that thinking, and some smart, thoughtful posters seem to lean away from it. You should join the thoughtful discussion rather than pray not to see ideas you disagree with.

I get that you're excited about the possibility of getting Wiggins. Great. Then it shouldn't matter to you what people like me think. We all have the right to say what we think about trades that haven't even happened yet, and even to question the potential of or even criticize players on our team.

Everyone is impatient about seeing something happen with the Love situation. I suspect that's part of what Cool was getting at because there is only so much to talk about that we are going crazy talking about Wiggins and part of it is because he isn't actually a Wolf yet. I can't go full homer on him till that happens. Lol

While I share the impatience of many on this board with how long this deal is taking, I think debating Wiggins' handle is a good topic. And Drew, I watched Wiggins' highlights again after reading your summary, and I agree that there isn't enough there for me to pronounce him a good ball handler. I think Wiggins was fouled on a few good drives to the basket that didn't make the highlight video, so his handle is better than the video shows. But I have to agree that he didn't demonstrate very good distribution skills during SL. It's something he may have to work on, but I remain confident his upside is very, very high.

I watched most of the Cavs SL game against the Spurs and Wiggins was going against Kyle Anderson there were a couple possessions in a short timespan that were pretty brutal. Those 2 possesions are examples of why this conversation about Wiggins handle is very relevant and lots of posts from various viewpoints. I'm not writing Wiggins ability to driibble based on those couple failed possessions but its a legit concern. Yet so much of the rest of his overall game he could bring to a team looks pretty good. I'm hoping for Kawhi Leonard at this point anything higher than that is gravy. Of course we don't know what Kawhi's ceiling is yet so yeah... Lol

I've said for a number of years the teams that struggle aren't the ones that have guys that don't reach their max potential its. The teams that draft guys that don't really even become legit rotation players or at least starters. Look at the Wolves drafting. I remember for years Atlanta couldn't draft anyone worth anything. Marvin Williams despite not being a star was at least a legit solid starting SF for them and was part of what moved them from blagh to decent and then a pretty good team. Derrick Williams being nearly worthless was such a big blow to this team's future. #2 overall picks can't be basically busts if you want to be successful and that's what Williams was. Not even Q thought Williams was gonna be that bad. What I am saying is that yeah we need Wiggins to be a star but if he can be a really good defender that can score 16-18ppg man that would go a long ways towards making this team good.

Sidenote: Does anyone remember if Joe Johnson had that ball-handling ability when he came into the league?

Drew, You have put good, thoughtful analysis into your points without using hyperbole. Good stuff!

Here is what hopefully everyone can agree upon: Regardless if the trade is with Chicago or Cleveland, thank God Love is going to the Eastern Conference!

Interesting. I would think Flip would want to mix up the vets and young guys a bit better to ensure there is a good balance on the floor.

I could definitely see Wiggins starting because there would probably be less pressure on him to score and create if he's out there with Pekovic, Rubio, and Martin.

Don't take my comments personally. I really wasn't being critical of either side of the debate. I don't even know what side I fall on. I just believe that the deal is done, and I'm getting tired of what the title of this thread actually is - "Bulls vs Cavs". To that end it doesn't matter whether you would prefer a Bulls package or a Cavs package. You're going to get Wiggins and some combination of the other names being bandied about. I have no problem with the debate regarding Wiggins ceiling. But I am tired of people trying to pick holes in his game as justification for us taking a Bulls deal instead.
