It was encouraging to hear the comments from Benz and Jpete on Shabazz's work ethic. That definitely sounds different than Williams. On the other hand, Shabazz has a very unusual game for a wing in that he has poor handles, a slow first step, and can't create for others. He relies on post ups, offensive rebounds, transition, and catch-and-shoots for his offense. He's almost like a PF in a SF's body and with blinders on to boot. And there is still no guarantee that if he plays regularly and actually gets scouted, that his strengths will consistently translate. We just don't know right now.
My view has remained unchanged in terms of how Shabazz could maximize his value. The guy is built line a linebacker and plays with intensity. If he can channel his natural strength and hunger to the defensive side of the ball, he could be a younger version of Mbah Moute, with some offensive weapons to boot. Now THAT would earn him a spot on almost any roster.

I hope last night was just the start of things.
