Minnesota luxury tax bill increases from $56M to $84M with the selection of Rob Dillingham.

Givony was on Duncd on Pod and called him a 25 ppg scorer if you can live with the defense which will be bad. Says best ball handler in the class, great in pick and roll, hits 45% from deep while taking tough shots.

1. Reed Sheppard - Gone to Houston
2. Devin Carter — Gone to SAC
3. Rob Dillingham - Gone to Spurs
4. Carlton Carrington — Gone to Portland
5. Jared McCain
6. Nikola Topic — Gone to OKC
7. Terrence Shannon
8. Tyler Kolek
9. Jaylon Tyson
10. Harrison Ingram
11. Baylor Scheierman
12. KJ Simpson
OK. We already have one of my 12 guys. 7 of my favorites are left with 12 picks to go before #27. I don’t see any point in drafting Kolek or Simpson at this point. So I’m hoping we end up with Tyson, Ingram, Shannon or Scheierman.

Scheierman, Holmes or Djurisic for me.

With Luka leaving, I might even be open to drafting Filipowski.

Monster wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:23 pm Wow totally unexpected move and it's for future picks no players?!?! I don't know whether they picked the right guy (don't have knowledge) but I love the move up.

Wolves still have this year's picks too. Really interesting stuff.
Ha, you and TC love the move now, but will we like it in 2030 and 2031. The Spurs aren't stupid and might think they are mining future gold.
Sure it could turn out to be a poor move but there is also a chance it's 2 non-lottery picks to move up to #8 now for a guy the Wolves clearly valued highly. For the Spurs having those assets can be very valuable.

One thing Connelly has done is often move picks and or players around and fill in draft spots and mined his own gold. #37 this year was unexpected you never know but Connelly could end up acquiring a pick in 2030 or 2031 that ends up being higher or in the same range as the one we gave up.

What matters the most now is whether Dillingham is actually good. If the guys busts it's going to be bad regardless.

I had Dillingham listed just above Carrington based on his shooting. But my gut would have led me to trade up for Carrington in spite of his 3-point shooting stats. Something about that guy tells me he’s going to be a great two-way player. He seems to have the competitive zeal and toughness that makes for NBA success when paired with a high basketball IQ which Carrington appears to have. I’m not complaining because I really like Dillingham. But I would have targeted Carrington over Dillingham.

If he were an inch taller and 20 lbs heavier he'd easily be a top 2 or 3 pick. I'm not too concerned about his height. I mean, hell, Mike Conley and Jordan McLaughlin are shorter! But I am concerned about his weight. The front office must think his frame can take on more weight. Get that man some Popeye's!
