As much as I love Donte, I like your take, Monster. One thing we can be fairly confident about...TC is most likely to do something in the draft and with trades that none of us were expecting! I agree that Donte is probably more highly regarded around the league than NAW and could bring back something good in a trade and allow us to possibly keep NAW. Let's add that to the list of things TC could do. Let's keep in mind though that Donte has a very good contract...we have him locked up for 2 more years at not much more than $12 million per year. That seems like a huge bargain to me considering the value he brings, and another reason TC's KAT deal was so brilliant.Monster wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 8:27 am Something I was thinking about before game 3 was what if the Wolves could resign NAW and deal Donte for some sort of value? I'm a fan of both guys and I think Donte is the better player. This is assuming NAW leaves for nothing and you could resign him and deal Donte for at least a protected first? Idk NAW at this point helps the PG position more than Donte.
Naz getting 30 million seems unlikely. If he gets that congrats to him I don't think the Wolves would give him that. 25ish million? Maybe but not 30.
Gobert's salary is gonna be more than spending money on another established player but how much more? Starting centers are gonna get paid 20 million at least. Now if the Wolves can find a young guy in the draft or unearth some guy in FA like a Hartenstien etc great but I'm not really concerned with paying Gobert.
After a good game 3 Randle to sort of putting to bed the idea of adding Durant. I mean if the Wolves can add Durant for not a whole lot sure I guess but I don't see it making sense to give up a ton to get him although I think he is still a very good player. I think it's fair to wonder what the fuck happened there in Pheonix last year where they massively underachievers and Durant was part of it.

Donte's injury history should be taken into account as well. NAW has played a ton of games for MN I'm not sure if he missed games before because of injury or just not being in the rotation at previous stops it could have been some of both. I also have to wonder if that turf toe has bothered Donte more some point before or during the playoffs but he is playing through it. Let's see how the rest of the playoffs go I could see Donte finding himself and making it much harder to move on from him. NAW has his flaws but I think he is a guy that's pretty valuable if he gets paid a reasonable amount. Not sure what that number is but there are teams out there that could do worse than pick him up for a valuable depth guy.FNG wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 9:03 amAs much as I love Donte, I like your take, Monster. As far as trading Donte, remember players could be traded into MLE exceptions now. They could trade him to most teams for just picks, if they felt the need.FNG wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 9:03 amAs much as I love Donte, I like your take, Monster. I think a team like San Antonio at 14 or Houston at 10 could have interest in Donte if were trading him for a draft pick. Not sure if you would need to add 31 to him to get to 10.Monster wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 8:27 am Something I was thinking about before game 3 was what if the Wolves could resign NAW and deal Donte for some sort of value? Re: Bring Them All Back?
I understand the Donte chatter here given his pretty shitty playoff run so far, but man, I wouldn't throw the towel in on him yet given his history as a movement shooter and the fact he's on a really good deal.

Are there players at 10 you would be excited about moving Donte for?rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:19 amI think a team like San Antonio at 14 or Houston at 10 could have interest in Donte if were trading him for a draft pick. I guess another option is there a PG the Wolves could go after with Donte as part of a package? I didn't see enough of Dillingham this year to say whether I believe in him as the next PG for the Wolves.
Can the Wolves attract a vet FA PG type in FA? Tyus?

Re: Bring Them All Back?
100% I would rather have Donte at 10 million than NAW at 14 million, just throwing out ideas since it's gong to be hard to bring everyone back. I do think Naz is going to ultimately take a bit of a discount to stay here. Listening to that conference interview last night talking to TSJ they asked him something like if he was getting the Naz treatment from the fans, and TSJ said no one gets the Naz treatment. We treat Naz like a king, and he has a great chance of winning a title here, I think he stays.
Re: Bring Them All Back?
Q to be clear it's less about moving him and more about finding ways to get the most value as possible. I might be the biggest Donte fan on this board but it might make sense to deal him IF...you get something back worthwhile. Doing a trade where you end up with NAW back on a reasonable deal and a valuable draft pick might make sense. I'm not saying we should do it but I think it's worth considering. I do worry if we trade him we will be missing out on Donte simply being a higher end player but he does have problems staying healthy. I think that should be a factor for Randle's next contract too.

Me personally probably not, maybe Maluach if he's still available but I wouldn't make the trade until you know for sure. You don't want to pull another Garland situation. You have Rudy mentor Maluach until he's ready to take the starting reigns. If you got Maluach, you can take Coward at 17 who could be the next Jalen Williams and have an amazing young group.Monster wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:34 amAre there players at 10 you would be excited about moving Donte for?rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:19 amI think a team like San Antonio at 14 or Houston at 10 could have interest in Donte if were trading him for a draft pick. Re: Bring Them All Back?
FWIW Donte makes about 12 million the next 2 years. NAW's meh playoffs shooting from 3 so far likely has cooled his salary although he has inched his way up the 3 point percentage to a not terrible third of his 3's in the playoffs. There is a chance the Wolves could bring back NAW for the same amount of money or less than what Donte is getting and maybe for a year longer.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:37 am100% I would rather have Donte at 10 million than NAW at 14 million, just throwing out ideas since it's gong to be hard to bring everyone back.
