Alright with this talk about Frank N I finally looked up some stuff on him. I didn't realize he had that kind of length. He is supposed to be 6'5" with a possible 7' wingspan. That's a lot of length. I watched a highlight video from this year and he looks huge I can believe those measurements are accurate he might even be taller than 6'5" He looks more like a wing than a PG.
He doesn't really move like a PG really probably partly because he is so long/big. Most PGs are smaller quicker players than he is. He makes some passes and is clearly an unselfish guy. He honestly reminds me somewhat of Kris Middleton in the way he moves around. His shot looks ok not good but not broken either and he hasn't turned 19 yet so there is progression to be had. Heck he might even still be growing.
I'm intrigued with him in much the same way I am about Isaac but he is a year younger. The guy is really long seems likely to be able to do a lot of stuff and with his size if he can be a decent shooter and decent PG he would be a really useful player even if he wasn't a star. He could play with anyone. He would have to get stronger but he may even be able to guard SFs. People praise his BBIQ and how he runs a team. Those things aren't stuff you can see watching highlights. If he is a guy that does know how to run a team then man he becomes a player I am very interested at 7. He could be a guy that really allows you to play positionless basketball. He might not be able to help right away but he might be a great guy even at 7 to play in the D-league for a 20 game stretch and see what happens. I could even see Orlando with their new guys being ones that have been part of organizations that have taken long versatile athletes being a team that could take him. He is pretty unproven but there is plenty to be intruiged about. I'm feeling better about being at 7 now knowing more about him.

I think people are really undervaluing what he did because of the lack of minutes and the conference he played in, but the advanced stats have him almost on par with Towns who only played 4 more MPG's in college. He has legit size and athleticism to go with an aggressive mentality that led to very efficient numbers. Then when the competition ramped up in the tournament he stepped up and looked as good or better than multiple other top prospects. I don't really understand his fall in the draft so I'd be curious why he's a guy who's dropping. I'm actually comfortable with trading down in the draft to pick him up and get something else at this point. He seems almost like the perfect modern day NBA center who just needs to add some weight and reduce the fouls.
I think the reason he is dropping is I think most people probably feel he is a center. How many teams want to draft another center? I'm not saying that's right or wrong it is a bit of a reality. For example the Pistons probably don't want to draft a C. I agree with you though I did think Collins could be a guy that is in that top 5 though.

Funny you mention Detroit. One of the basketball podcasts I listen to (forgot which one) mentioned they might be looking to move on from Drummond because he doesn't really work in today's game. He's unplayable for large chunks of the game because of his free throw shooting and he's purely a PnR and offensive rebounding big for his offense. Collins on the other hand shoots 74% from the line which is too good to hack and he's got more versatility on offense because of his pick and pop potential. I think a modern center like Collins is undervalued now, but will be more prevalent in the coming years. Not many 7 footers protect the rim and have the potential to be a perimeter offensive weapon. And we don't really know yet if he can be even more versatile and play the 4 for large chunks as well, but I think he can against a large chunk of the league who still plays two bigs.

I don't disagree with anything here. I will say I can't remember who it was that I read or heard talk about Drummond and they brought up he hadn't turned 24 yet. It may have even been SVG but maybe it was someone else. Some of the shine is off Drummond but the guy put up over 13 points and 13 rebounds in less than 30mpg at the age is 23. That's not too bad. The Pistons...I'm not sure what they are doing or where they go next. They have some nice players but it feels like they don't have anyone that may be even a top 20 player in the league.
Cool is a big believer in Collins being able to play PF. I like him and I think it's possible but I have my skeptism. The league has taken such a drastic turn there it really can be hard to really wrap your mind around it. Plus will it always be this way?

I view Frank as a combo guard, and more of a shooting guard than a point guard.

I'm watching film on Zach Collins, both his strengths and weaknesses. In the strengths film he blocked Lauri Markannen three times (which made me less excited about Lauri). I worry that Zach Collins got a lot of blocks against inferior competition, so I'm not sure how well his shot blocking translates. In his weakness film, he didn't seem to get much elevation on his shots or even his shot block attempts (anybody know what his vertical is), so I think he'll have to thrive in the perimeter. I think his outside shooting looks fine. The best comparison I can come up with is Channing Frye. By the way, his face reminds me of a young Jim Petersen (when he used to have hair).

You're totally off base here. Did you watch the final 4? That was against good competition wouldn't you agree? He thrived on the interior. Today's Channing Frye is a terrible comparison for Zach's game. Swing and a miss here Ricky.

Was just going to say the same thing Cool regarding Collins. He dominated at times in the final four. He was the best players in the floor in the championship game. Dude is very skilled and long.
I just don't think we need a center due to having Kat, otherwise I'd be all over drafting Collins. Perfect center in today's game. He and Kat could probably play together, just don't think it's maximizing either of their skill sets.

What about Harry? Harry Giles that is. He was considered by some as the best player in this draft class before his injuries. What is the prognosis for him making a full recovery? Could he be the Joel Embiid of this draft class? If we got a pick from Portland, would he be worth the gamble?

This seems like a great time to remember back to that time when Marbury said Frye would be the next Tim Duncan. Lol
