The only bad contracts we have are Pek's and Martin's -- Pek's because of the amount, length and his injury propensity; Martin's, primarily because of his age and the length of his contract. Brewer and Budinger aren't good but aren't terrible. JJ's and Luc's deals are under the mid-level and, more importantly, are expiring. So I don't see a lot of benefit in any salary dump on Philly unless Pek and or Martin end up going to the Sixers. And it seems highly unlikely that will happen.

Why not use the mle and sign Marion with the difference in contracts between Bennett and Young?

I feel like this trade is the perfect opportunity to clear out all of these average wings and give playing time for lavine and wiggins. I just really want Martin Brewer and Bud out of here and we could get rid of all 3 at once

I think this is Flip being overly confident about his coaching skills.
Thad is certainly not a prototypical PF on a playoff team. A playoff PF would have to be above average in at least 2 of the primary core competencies for a PF (defense, rebounding and efficient scoring), and the statistics show that Young is well below average in all 3. Flip has to know this, and if he doesn't, at least his son is sufficiently knowledgeable of advanced stats to know this. That's why I have always thought, and continue to think, that Flip sees Young as a means to an end...not an end himself. I still think that Flip sees Young only as a placeholder until he can find his real starting PF, and as a means to dump some players that he needs to dump to balance the roster. The rumored deal doesn't accomplish this, so I'm with grey at this point...it's more lazy reporting and BS.

Thank God, a media-type guy tweeted another Love/Wiggins rumor. We were running out of dead horses to kick... ;-)

Wolves aren't a playoff team either way

As long as there are gullible guys out there like me to buy this crap, they're gonna keep doling it out. Everybody wants to be first, and there doesn't seem to be any consequences for being wrong...again.

It would depend on the team around him, like always. Love wasn't a starting PF on a PO team in the West, though it wasn't his fault. Point is, if the parts around him are good as well, then I see no reason why not.
I've seen Young go toe to toe with all the good PFs in the West (Aldridge, Lee, Ibaka, Griffin, Diaw). Young's not a franchise player, but he is a good player and those are on playoff teams.

Because Marion is not coming to the Wolves

Was just reading an article that included Young, found this interesting tidbit:
"In 2012-13, he finished ninth in the NBA in total steals and according to HoopData.com, 17th in defensive plays (the combination of blocks, steals and charges taken)."
