Bennett hasn't proven anything in this league other than him being a passenger on the struggle bus and a steady customer at Krispy Kreme.
Just like you are running away from D-Will's first year in college...
How am I? He averaged 16/7 in 28 minutes with a TS% of .620. Is he a future star too?
I think we need to hold onto bennett cause why would we want to toil with being on the verge of making the playoffs and nabbing a mid first. I am sick of being a almost .500 team. Devote this season development of wiggins, bennett and dieng and muhammad. Grab another top pick and then start trying to add pieces. Let the bottom fall out so we can get another key cornerstone. We dont have the horses and we need to be more realistic.
Is it true that players play better when they play with better players? I know "play" is heavy in that sentence, but read it slowly. It is true.
Our focus needs to be on developing Rubio, Wiggins, Dieng, LaVine, Muhammad and even Robinson III. I believe Martin, Pekovic, Brewer and Young would be huge for Minnesota's basketball culture and in helping these young guys along the way.
Another question: Does anyone truly believe that Bennett is our PF for the future? Clearly I don't and I'd rather get the already proven, 26-year old Young. Flip can then hand select his PF to groom in next year's draft, which is likely to be deep at that position. Or we can just throw Bennett into the starting lineup and lower the stability that's around Wiggins.
We can rebuild without bottoming out. For some reason, everyone forgets that.
I think you need three quality guys and at least two stars to do anything. Wiggins has potential star possibilities but nobody else on this squad will be that guy. Free agents dont sign here. How can you expect to grab another star without a top five pick? I think getting a high pick next year will be crucial to success. Let some young guys grow together and develop and can add some pieces around them.

I wish Flip had used his lottery pick this year. Oh shit... He did.
There was some "noise" at canis today (including JAF). It seems Love-Wiggins will be the two-team deal we've heard about, followed by a deal with Philly: Barea, Luc and the #1 for Young. That might be it:
Rubio / Williams / Shved
Martin / LaVine / Bud
Brewer / Wiggins / Shabazz
Young / Bennett / Hummel
Pek / Dieng / Turiaf
(Q - I like Wiggins chances of starting, too, but gotta give Corey the benefit of the doubt right now)
That would be awesome if we could land Young and keep Bennett.
(I would still prefer we start Dieng at PF, bring Young off the bench, and force Bennett to earn his minutes in practice and perhaps even a stint in the D-League).
