Lol. I think getting Gobert was secondary to clearing a path for Nowell. :) At least that's what Doogie reported.

Doogie drives me nuts so much, haha. These last 2 weeks he said the Wolves are not getting Gobert. Now today he was like my reporting told you guys 4 weeks ago Gobert was legit option.

He legit has gotten everything wrong this offseason, he mentioned Javon Carter, Kaminsky, Dlo getting traded, Noel, Tyus all being on the Wolves got none of them. He is so so so bad. I know this isn't a doogie thread but made me go nuts. haha

Shams reported today in his athletic article that the wolves are in contract extension talk with Naz and Nowell but Nowell won't sign a extension and will test UFA this offseason

I will say it does not mean he is 100% gone. I believe by NBA rules the Wolves can only offer so much money for an extension because he was a 2nd round pick and they can offer him more money once he hit free agency. I will say though more than likely something is going to give. I will be semi shocked if Dlo, Nowell and Naz are all back next year. The only way I see it is if they pay Dlo big 1 year deals with team options on the 2nd year.

Just going to be hard to keep, Dlo, Ant, Mcdaniels, Kat, Gobert and Nowell all here long term financially even with the cap expect to raise a ton in 2 years.

I didn't see the Utah game... but the way Nowell was playing yesterday... it sure looked like a guy padding his boxscore resume.

I think he sees himself as being held back a bit his first three years...almost like keeping a guy in the minors of baseball longer than perhaps deserved. This is his first year with a well-defined role and regular minutes.

Yeah, my sense is that Nowell is a supremely confident guy who questions why he hasn't been given more minutes. Of course we know that he hasn't shot very efficiently except for last season and the coaches have not been pleased with his defense...not a good combination for earning more playing time. But I think he turned a corner last season and, despite shooting poorly to start this season, looks like a guy ready to get a steady 15-20 minutes off the bench. I suspect he sees himself as a starter though, and that's the reason he's likely to test the free agent market. He is a terrific shot creator and a true scoring option off the bench so I hope we can find a way to keep him, but I give it a better than 50% chance he'll be gone next year.

This sucks. If nowell goes, I'll be pissed. If he sees himself as a starter, I would agree with that. Good 6th man for us this year and could easily be starting for several teams this year I believe. I think the wolves took him as a 2nd round pick and developed him to what he has become, so hope there's some loyalty there on his end. As long as the wolves are able to offer him as much as other teams this offseason, I think he'll be back.
